Sulphur smell We have a Richmond water heater. We purchased it about a year ago. Everything was going great until about 2 months ago. We started experiencing a nasty sulphur smell everytime we used the hot water. We checked the water softner and that was not the problem. Last week, we emptied and flushed out the water heater and it worked. Today the smell is back. I am wondering if this model #248864, 53 gallon comes with an anode rod? It shows one in the manual, but wouldn't it stick up from the top of the heater? I can't seem to find it. I know from the manual that the anode rod could cause the smell, but they tell you not to remove it to prolong the life of the water heater. If I find that it does have a rod, can I remove it???

You can remove it but this will not fix your problem, you must cut the cold side pour in about half gallon of bleach ,drain heater of a gallon and a half first, then pour in bleach wait one hour then use as normal. you will have a bleach smell for some time but this will make the egg smell disapate.try this it worked for me.

Water heater leaks on top

Sounds like an improper installation. It shouldn't be leaking after only two months.

We are getting multiple codes. Can someone help us. Last year we got cod c2 11 which we found out we just have to clean the probes in the unit. So we did that yesterday again and everything worked great,...

Rheem, Richmond, Ruud, and Paloma are all the same manufacturer. After about 9 months, my tankless RTG-74PVN started giving me error code 11 and cold water!. I fixed it by cleaning the burner, as shown in this video:

Our Richmond Tankless is showing a reading of a C2 error code. How do we fix this. Why is it doing this?

Before calling service technician, open following link for Richmond/Rheem troubleshoot resources including Rheem chat.

Error codes are considered start place for troubleshooting.
C2 11 is 'No ignition' or 'Gas is inadequate' or 'Ignition failure'
Error C implies ignition rod

We get an smell from the water

If the smell is somewhat like sulphur, a nipple from a nat gas line was installed into the water line when the water heater was installed. If this is the case replace the nipple and the smell will go away
