Airbus 321 can't fly between LHR to JFK. Aircraft range is 5950km and the air distance between LHR and JFK is 8,112 km..

It is not only ******* for a VFR only pilot to fly in the IFR system, it is also potentially very dangerous. Even many IFR rated pilots are killed each year from spatial disorientation. IF you are on a straight in approach to a runway with a localizer or ILS and just tune it in and fly the ILS I don't think that's an issue.
It's quite permissible to do so, however a general aviation pilot in a low performance plane should be ready for fast instructions and quite a bit of maneuvering to stay out of the way. You're stuck with a water landing (ditching). Hopefully at altitude the pilot can see a ship and make the landing in the vicinity of the ship for quick rescue. It so rare for a plane to lose power to all engines though that you should never hear of such an incident. Depending on the route, however, Bermuda may be within gliding distance.
Not true. High marks will give you your choice of what you want to fly. So if you want to fly the F-22 make sure you get to the top 1% of your class. Same goes if you want to fly say the KC-135.
