I think that a lot of people have not undertaken higher education nowadays (at least there's a lot of them in my surrounding). I am studying at college now, but I'm not thrilled about it :) I'm doing all my homework with the help of the Paperial online writing service to save my time and energy. And I'm ok with it. To be honest I'm not sure if I went to the college without a support of the parents. Don't worry, they are definitely not holier-than-thou!

Has my son crippled himself by only getting an associate's degree?

He needs to grow up and face facts. Don't finance him, and let him learn. If he wants to be a graphic artists. He needs to follow his dreams, but has to have a formal training or be super talented. As an employer, I look at education as an indicator of drive and perseverance. Not education only. He'd better have an outstanding resume to get a job, or be self employed. My 2 cents worth.
