To remove or install a belt on the Ilco 008, the shaft must be slid out of at least one bearing. If there is a guard cover over the pulley, remove it. Loosen the setscrew(s) on the cutter shaft pulley, and slide the shaft to the left. Mine is an older model, with no guard and the belt can be changed without removing the shaft completely.
After putting a new belt around the pulley, slide the shaft back into the right-hand bearing.
Be sure the pulley set screws are aligned with the flats on the shaft and that there is minimal end play and the cutter turns freely. Tighten the set screws and stretch the belt over the motor pulley.
1. Align the crankshaft timing marks on the flywheel / gearbox
2. Remove the valve cover 3. Lock the camshaft
4. Fit the injection pump locking pin
5. Loosen the camshaft gearwheel bolt, 180 degrees. Use a wrench to counter-hold 6. Loosen the camshaft gearwheel while holding it in place
7. Fit the timing belt in the sequence as shown in the below figure: a - b - c - d - e - f - g
8. Fit the timing belt and camshaft gearwheel together 9. Turn the tensioner clockwise to align both marks
10. Tighten the large bolt on the tensioner to a torque of 20 Nm 11. Check for correct fit 12. Lock the camshaft. Tighten the camshaft gearwheel bolts: 45 Nm. Use a wrench to counter-hold 13. Remove helping tools 14. Turn the engine two rotations by hand 15. Repeat the procedure if required 16. Fit the vacuum pump 17. Refit the crankshaft pulley. Tighten torque: 20 Nm + 20 degrees 18. Fit the timing belt cover 19. Refit the valve cover 20. Fit the ancillary drive belt 21. Refit the inlet air manifold hoses 22. Check the injection timing
* take nail polish or paint and place a mark starting on the front roller pulley and going onto the front roller metal shaft * then try to walk on it and see if the white mark separates * if it does then the roller is bad and would need replaced or tap screws placed through the pulley into the metal shaft to hold it in place * if it doesn't separate then the drive belt is slipping and most likely will need replaced, although you could try spraying belt dressing on it to see if that would be a temporary fix. * if neither of these is your problem and the walk belt is slipping then you will need to try to adjust the screws in the back of the treadmill through the end caps. these are allen wrench screws. Tighten each one the same amount such as 1 full turn to start with. see if you can now walk without it slipping. If not then tighten 1-2 more turn on both sides. If after 2-3 full turns it is not tight enough I would recommend replacing the walk belt.
