RECOVER: Absolutely... but you must be careful (gentle)
"TAPE" you say...
Personally I'm thinking it is more likely your TAPE PLAYER
than it is your tape... but to properly advise you
any serious TECHNICIAN would need to KNOW
The MAKE & MODEL of your "tape transport".
Basic tape management (video & audio) dictates
the tape should be "periodically" run from end to end...
Tape does have a limited life-cycle and depending on their storage conditions.... can become brittle or begin to adhere to themselves (rare).
Just because the tape (or deck) might not be
functioning correctly IN NO WAY degrades the
MEDIA (voice) on that tape.
and player health... dictates it be used OFTEN.
If left in-used the drive belts will develop a memory
and resist operation ...or worse slip inside...
Try playing a tape that is not AS VALUABLE...
If your tape is a cassette inserting a finger into each side to gently
determine the tape moves freely from side to side is a good assurance the cassette is fine.
ALWAYS remove all slack before attempting to play a cassette.
Determine your situation... write down your make & model, type of "TAPE" and repost your question...
We have a bunch of EXCELLENT VOLUNTEERS here with life-times of experience for you.
Merry Christmas...!!
If it has a sd or micro sd card....maybe. Someone that does audio forensic work can handle this
