Recently, I bought a new vehicle, I had the head unit moved from my last vehicle to the new one. A Software update was requested from the company, they said it would correct the iPod and Sirius radio problems (not sure if the upgrade might be behind this or not) but the only other updates were HD Radio turner and Steering wheel controls (from the new vehicle to the radio).
I was listening to Sirius radio, when I went to turn up the volume, the steering wheel remote seemed to get "stuck" and the volume proceeded to maximum and then the audio from the radio cut out. The radio stayed on, but no audio, and no audio controls (from the steering wheel or the face of the unit.) Thinking like a computer geek, I stopped the car, turned off the ignition and back on. When the Kenwood came back up, it has "Disconnected cable found, please confirm a connection..." on the screen.
The head unit is connected to the trucks existing amplifier system and steering controls via bus unit installed by reputiable car audio facility. iPod still charges, but no radio/sirius/CD/NAV/phone functions. I checked fuses thinking I blew the amplifiers fuse, but all fuses seem to be in tact, including aux (in the regular fuse box). I am not sure if there were additional fuses inline for the instalation. It seems the radion wouldnt do anything if a power fuse was blown, unless it can see down stream to the AMP and there might be a problem there.
Any advice? I havent seen an update on this topic in a coulpe of months. Short of taking it back to the Audio store, I was wondering if someone can advise.

You could just run the ground behind the deck, there is plenty of ground behind the radio. I really think you have a grounding issue though. Best of luck
SOURCE: question about sirius radio for kenwood cd player
You can try it, but I think you might need a media expander/controller. I see some going for around $100 on Ebay. It allows you to add and interface many component to your deck. But make sure the deck ready to control it. You can tell by the label on the deck(Ipod ready, XM ready, Sirius ready, Changer ready....ect). Goodluck.
