You might want to consider getting a card reader instead. Once the memory card is inserted into the card reader, the card will appear as a disc and you can simply drag-and-drop your pictures like any other file. It will also be faster than going through a USB cable.

Pc not recognising camera/ i can not find my disc

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Hav emisplaced the cd provided with purchase. need software to transfer images from camera to pc (window)

You don't say what camera you have, so in general: there are two options: connect with a USB lead or take the memory card out and read it with a card reader attached to the computer.

Using a USB lead, you shouldn't need a driver or other software. The computer can recognise the camera memory as a removable drive without actually recognising the camera as a camera. Try looking in "My Computer" for an extra drive (Under "Devices with Removable Storage") and opening that. There should be directories with picture files in them that you can drag to your desktop.

Many people find it more convenient to just take the memory card out of the computer and put it in a card reader, especially now that these readers are built into computers and printers. You can't get the pics from the camera's internal memory that way though.

Not recognising USB

To remove the message, press MENU/SET. You can also eliminate any problems by using a separate card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop.
