Problem could be the combination of a bug that causes the device to freeze and the battery running out. If...
- the player won't turn on
- the player won't connect to PC
- the standard reset action won't work,
plugging the player in the AC charger may pull up the recovery screen which will allow you to proceed and reboot, provided the player has no other eg hardware issues.
Mine does the same thing,
You just have to leave it plugged in for a long time, and after a while the black screen with the battery that tells you it's charging will show up.
Trust me, it'll happen.
I have a usb cable that came with it ( or some other mp3 player i bought), but it is way too short, so i bought a cheap ($1) and longer usb cable. The computer recognizes the mp3 when connected, but it wont charge with the long and cheap cable.
Maybe you also have a long (or short) cheap usb cable...or maybe your usb cable is plain broke...
If that doesn't fix it trythe USB cable Screen Doesn’t come on anymore http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18859 If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
