My printer has come up with a service error 5c00. What can i do to fix it?

The 5C00 code is for purge cam sensor error meaning an error occurred in the purge unit. You can remove the purge assembly and clean out all the ink covering the moving parts. You can clean it with isopropyl alcohol or just water. If no luck, replace the purge unit, will be around $30.

Error code says 5c00 on my canon pixma mp500 printer. cant find my manual to figure out what the code means

The error code 5c00 usually means that there is a paper jam or paper path restriction.
If the path is not restricted, the printer will need servicing.

Error code problem

Unplug printer. Press and hold power button for about 15 seconds. 5C00 is a hardware service code. Meaning there is an EEPROM error on the printer systemboard. Which may need to be replacing by a certified techinican.
