Dell XPS M1330 - Backlight not working

LED screen, computer bought 1.5 years ago so not covered anymore by warranty. The backlight suddenly stopped working, screen is black, computer works but i can hardly see anything.
Have tried to reboot, to access Bios, to start in safe mode and with low resolution, doesn't change anything.
Would really appreciate your help. THanks

If you are having issues with a backlight I would check the lcd inverter first. It is usually 20 dollars on ebay. I would avoid contacting dell as they are no help to people that are out of warranty.

If backlight is out. you need to replace the lcd screen there is no way around it. i have seen many of these models cause this issue because of a bad motherboard. you would have to contact dell to see if you are eligible for a mobo replacement to prevent future issues with this model. usually to replace a lcd it runs at our store 160+ tax.

Good Luck!

SOURCE: led backlight on display for m1330 xps dell

This model laptop uses a CCFL lamp for the backlight, it does not use LEDs for backlighting.
The CCFL lamp is attached to an inverter which supplies high voltage to this lamp.
For details on how to install and or replace CCFL lamps go to
www.lcdparts.net for information and parts.

I assume you are not replacing the whole LCD screen.

I was watching a video in my Dell XPS M1210 when it suddenly stopped and the screen when blank. I unplugged it and tried to switch on but I still get a blank screen but the power button has lights as well...

The inverter or backlight on the display may have gone out. Connect an external VGA monitor to the laptop. If it works, then the display has a bad inverter or the backlight CCFL lamp went out.

The sreen of my DELL XPS M1330 suddenly does not lght up!

It can be either the display is dead or it is a loose connection. If you are still covered by warranty then I would suggest you to contact the dell technical support. They will replace the part for you.
However if you don't have a warranty then you can buy this part from dell online store (the display) and you can fix it on your own - http://ahwee.com/how-to-disassemble-laptop-dell-xps-m1330 follow the instructions here to dismantle your laptop and refix it with the new parts. If you find any troubles doing so; please let me know; I will help you further.

Dell XPS M1330 Laptop can't boot to windows, when running express test, got error code 0F00:137B when re-install the vista, it stop at "Expanding files (0%)" long time ...

if you bought this from dell, use the restore disks that came with it starting with disk one. you wont be able to save your files bt at least you will have a usable computer. i have an XPS studio 16 and had to do the same thing.

Dim Screen when Power is Unpluged

If you see a very dim image or black screen or flicking image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
