My CanonPC940 won't grab paper and push it through to print-also makes a a loud "grinding" noise. How can I fix this?

Sounds like a tire may have slid off of a wheel. Yes they have wheels. Also paper soaks up water like a sponge always keep your paper in the wrapper it comes in and the top side of the paper is where the seam is. Make sure you put the paper in so that the top side is the side going through the machine. I do how ever believe you have a wheel or gear out of place.

The figure 8 with a check mark is the paper jam indicator. The machine thinks there is a paper jam somewhere. Just check the whole machine inside and out, including the bottom paper tray. Hopefully you can get the jam reset and make sure the toner is ok. As long as the box that the toner came out of has E20, E31 or E40 you should be fine on the toner.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Have you attempted to print to the copier? Doing this completely bypasses the optics of the copier and therefore you are able to potentially narrow down the cause of the banding.

On cleaning optics: on the right hand side of the machine, near the top, or on the top, of the scan bed there should be two to four screws that hold a plastic cover in place. After removing the cover you should be able to gently lift the glass up and out of its housing. Using windex or any other sort of glass cleaner on the reflective mirrors will do the trick. However, this does not sound like an optics problem.

Have you inspected either the transfer belt, roller, or transfer corona wires? All of these parts can be accessed from the right side of the machine. Gently clean the thin wires with a rag and some sort of general cleaner.

Background on copies, possible dirty charge roller , I cleaned all optics is there an adjustment to perform to help eliviate this background

Hi,
yes it could be chatge rollers fault, but how many copies does developer have? I would clean the charge roller with water, dry it, and change the developer. On these digital machine, when you have backround wich is dark, these means that developer is worn out and you need to change it and clean developer cylindar. When the optics is dirty the image will be light, not dark!!!!! Only on analog copiers when optics is dirty the copy is dark, and when the developer is worned out the copy is light!!!!

I have a ricoh 2232c. Do you know how I can clean

In order to clean the optics, you have to remove the two optic covers (one over the **** glass on the left and one on the rear side of the main platen glass). Each cover should have 2 or 3 screws.

Clean the **** glass and platen glass with alcohol and a lint-free rag (both sides) and blow compressed air onto the mirrors, lamp, and reflector. It's a good idea to turn off the copier before doing this.

When reassembling, clean the white strip on the underside of the **** glass cover as well.

Afico 2015- i am getting lines on the copies... optic are clean

Cleaned optics means the three mirrors in the scanning section and the laser **** glass right? This can be done by removing the platen glass.

MY COPIER COPIES ARE POOR

Have you cleaned the optic's? What is not clear with the copies? Are the blurred or black marks? When you clean the optic make sure you clean the scanning lamp also. Has the problem improved after replacing the drum unit? If not it may also be with the developping unit.
