It is possible that the buffer board will fix your problem, but try removing, cleaning and reseating the flex cables between the buffers and the panel first. All it takes is a little bit of dirt or oxidation to open a connection and cause a line-out condition. Use a lint free cloth and a little bit of alcohol to clean them. Make sure to fully insert the cables and center them perfectly in the connectors or you will have even more lines. If the original line is still there after cleaning, then try replacing the board. Buy a board from a reputable dealer that will guarantee no problems with the board. If you still have the line even after changing the board, then the plasma panel has failed and the only fix is to replace the panel.
Always let the tv set for an hour unplugged before attempting any repair work. There are dangerously high voltages in plasma tvs that can cause severe shocks or even *****.
Hello, the problem is with the buffer board ribbon cable. You have to really force them in there till you see no more lines, then close the latches in place "try using both hands" and press into the board HARD :)
if the band is horizontal your tv has bad y-buffer board. Usually there are 2 buffer boards- top and bottom. if the problem is in the top half of the screen replace the top board, otherwise replace bottom board. but better to replace both a the same time.
if the tv has a vertical lines from top to bottom it may have bad plasma panel and can be considered as not economical to repair.
Normally this is an overheating issue or a power supply issue. For the overheating issue, take a vacuum and some compressed air and blow out the back of the TV. Dust can collect and cause components to retain heat that will cause the TV to produce horizontal lines called artifacts. Sometimes these are permanent but sometimes they can be repaired before replacement.
If it's a new TV take it back! There is a problem with either the PDP or the Y Buffer board. If it's still under warranty, call Samsung and have them fix it.
If not, are the lines pink? If they are clustered in 1 or more strips (usually about 3 in apiece), the Y Buffers are starting to go bad. Do not watch the TV - it may cause more damage and blow the YSUS board if this is the case! Replace the affected Y Buffer, and the lines will go away. I had to replace the upper buffer in my Samsung HPR4272X/XAA (my [3] strips were horizontal, and on the upper half of the TV).
If its the Panel, there is not much you can do about it (at least in my experience) except replace the panel. At that point in time, it's more cost effective to get a new TV.

this will cause the lines on your tv after replacing the ysus it could well be that ysus mabe faulty still if u replace buffer and find u still have the lines 9/10 times when the ysus goes it normally takes out the buffer board on these worst cases the control board,, but im 98% shure its buffer board.. let me know on here if u find out.
I just had my HP-R4252 repaired on 12.05.09 with a similar problem. The picture is covered in horizonal, broken lines and the color is predominately red. They lines are grouped together in large bands across the screen.
The tech replaced the Y-Buffer boards (Up) and (Low) in about 20 minutes.
