I had the same message on my epson xp-430 printer and I was told by support that it was a malfunction. Thank goodness it was still under warranty, because all they could do to help me was just to replace the whole thing.

SOURCE: Epsom R200 COPY INK DOESNT WORK

There is no solution, I have tried this myself, there are compatible inks for this product, you just got the wrong ones, However it may only be down to one of the inks, check the ink levels before removing, if all empty, then they are not compatible.

SOURCE: Error message - no ink

Hi Maria,

Try removing all of the ink cartridges again. Open the cover and remove all of the inks. Close the cover and turn the printer off. Leave it off for about 30 to 45 secs. Turn it back on. Install again the ink cartridges. Check if it will charge after closing the cover.

If it still says that ink need replacement, check your lcd panel. Usually it will tell you what ink cartridge needs replacement. This might be a faulty ink cartridge.

SOURCE: Error messages: U150 + Ink tank errors have occured

An on-line problem solver answered this question for me as follows, and it worked beautifully. I had previously tried just removing the ink cartridges, and then re inserting them, but that did not work.

"This is a somewhat common problem with the metal contacts that connect to the ink cartridge. Sometimes it can be fixed by cleaning the contacts, but other times it requires getting a new ink holder from Canon customer service.
To clean the contacts, you'll need a Q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol (it's important that it is isopropyl and not another kind of alcohol). Pull out the ink cartridges and clean the contacts on each one with the Q-tip dipped in alcohol. In particular, you want to make sure there are no fingerprints on the contacts. Then, turn off your printer and do the same with the contacts in the ink holder in the printer. Once the alcohol has dried on both sides, reinstall the cartridges and give it a try.
If this doesn't work, I recommend calling Canon tech support, so they can send you a replacement part."

According to Canon's instruction manual, you must complete the cleaning in less than 10 minutes. It took me about five. I did exactly the tech suggested, and after turning everything off and waiting a minute or so, I restarted everything, and the problem was solved.
You must be careful though, because if you leave a Canon Pi6600 cartridge out of the printer for more than 10 minutes, not only will the cartridge tray move back to the "off" position (out of reach), but the ink cartridges nossles will dry out and possibly not work. Also, do not "squeeze" the ink cartridges or you will get ink on yourself.

Remove the ink cartiage from the printer and then turn it off Then using a Q-Tip with cleaning alcohol or warm water if you do not have any cleaning alcohol and clean out the areas where the ink goes in. Also use a damp cloth and wipe down the inside of the printer.

Hi I brought some Wilkinson ink cartridges that are compatible with epsom T0715 for my Epsom sx210 printer. Everything worked fine, now after approx 2 weeks I'm unable to print as it keeps saying...

In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.
Activate head cleaning before a test is taken . Sometimes it is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the PC command or can be an issue with ink drying or
poor ink cartridge contacts.

My printer says it's unable to clean 46? it's a mfc printer LC-51 Series ink

Please note that this error code appears when the container in the printer that is responsible for storing used / discarded ink is full or registers as full.

The following instructions will guide you through the process of resetting the printers self clean counter so the error will go away but in the event that the ink absorbing box is actually full and this is not an erroneous message the error message will trigger again immediately.

Machine Error 46 - Purged Ink Box Full MFC620CN/420CN/410CN/210C and FAX2440C

The machine counts all purge (cleaning) operations in order to prevent the internal ink absorber box from overflowing with purged ink. An "initial purge", for example, advances the purge counter by 187 + 420 = 607. When the purge counter approaches 6400, an internal "Machine Error 46" is generated. Further purge operations are prohibited, and therefore the printer becomes unuseable.

When an internal Machine Error 46 is generated, the user will see an "Unable to Clean" external message and will be unable to use the printer. The "Unable to Clean" external message can relate to many different internal error codes however.

The user can establish the internal Machine Error Code as follows: pull the mains cable out of the machine (power off), hold down the Menu/Set key, re-insert the mains cable into the machine (power on). The internal Machine Error Code will be displayed.

If there is a Machine Error 46, it is necessary to dismantle the printer, replace the ink absorber box (or possibly break the ink absorber box open and clean its absorbent sponges under a tap), re-assemble the printer and reset the purge counter to zero.

Resetting purge counter MFC620CN/420CN/410CN/210C and FAX2440C

1) Enter machine maintenance mode (on MFC210C all four photo/copy/fax/scan lights flash in maintenance mode). Care is needed in maintenance mode, otherwise critical settings may be inadvertently corrupted.

FAX models with numerical keypads: Press the Menu/Set, *, 2, 8, 6 and 4 keys within two seconds. (if you fail to complete the correct key sequence within two seconds, press the Stop key to try again).

Other (non-FAX) models: Press the Menu/Set and Black Start keys. Next press the "up arrow" key four times to enter the maintenance mode).

2) Press the 8 then 0 keys in the initial stage of the maintenance mode to call up the machine's log information list (function code 80).

3) Press the Black Start key several times to scroll through the log information list to reach the purge counter. The purge counter is the 25th item in the list.

4) Press the 2, 7, 8, and 3 keys in this order to reset the purge count to zero.

5) Press the Stop/Exit key to return to the initial stage of the maintenance mode.

6) Press the 9 key twice to return to the standby state.

Also please note that if the ink box is full and the error code is reset the printer may begin to spill out excess used / discarded ink.

I suggest purchasing a new ink absorber box and installing it.

Epsom Rx620 states use originals for ink cartridges

Try to hold down both 'stop' and 'B&W' button when you press the 'on' button to start the printer machine. This should erase the error message and let you print.

Possible that the waste ink collector is full. (When you clean the cartridges, some ink is used, and that ink has to go somewhere!)
