The dryer will not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch will not activate and the dryer will not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

Control panel turns on but dryer won't start. Start/pause button flashing as usual, but just beeps twice when pushed.

That generally means the door is open. Assuming you have the door closed I would investigate the switch that tells the dryer the door is open. It may be bad.

you have a bad motor,if you open the door, hold the door switch in with one hand and spin the drum with the other and have someone else push the start button on and if by helping it to spin it starts usually the motor is bad but i did find on the maytag neptune style dryer that the belt cut into the belt pulley and was holding up the drum and the motor was buzzing like it was bad but like i say usually it's the motor.next time send the brand name and model number and i can help you out better.

Westinghouse Electric Dryer, Drum doesn't turn on start up, if your spin drum and close door it will start,

Either something is binding the blower wheel up or the motor is bad. The best thing is to take the front of the machine off to access the blower wheel to verify ifanything is indeed binding it.IF not read the next section.
If you can turn the drum and then the dryer starts you have a bad motor. The way the dryer works is when you initially push the start button, electricity is sent to the start winding, or stator, of the motor. This will in turn start the motor turning. From there the stator will drop out of the electrical process and at the same time the run winding, or rotor, will take over and the motor will continie to run. Your stator is damaged, has a burn spot, etc so by you turning the drum, the belt around the drum is moved which is attached to the motor pulley. You basically take the place of the stator. Long story short, you have a bad motor.

GE dryer model DDE8200GALAD was working fine. After removing a load and trying to dry another, after inserting the load and shutting the door when you turn the timer to start it before pushing the start...

If you hear the motor humming and not starting at all it most likely has a severe friction problem with the drum or motor. It could possibly have some type of garment jamming the blower wheel preventing the motor from starting too.

Open the dryer door and manually rotate the dryer drum counter clockwise (CCW). It should take very little effort to rotate the drum. If it's hard to rotate that could explain why the motor hums instead of starting up. If it turns freely, shut the door and see if will start. If it still hums and not start it may have bad motor or a low voltage supply to the motor.

unfortunatly it is either the motor or the drum bearings in the machine. if it is really hard to push i would suggest looking at all the bearings the drum rides on otherwise it is probably the motor that is getting weak.

I have to manually get drum turning...

Yes, there is a "startup" switch. It's the button you push on the panel (but I'm sure you know about that).

This switch energizes the start winding in the motor -- when the motor gets up to speed, a centrifugal switch in the motor disconnects the power from the start winding and switches to the run winding.

Either the start winding is not getting power or the winding is bad. If "no power" is the problem, it could be the button on the panel or a loose/dirty connection between there and the start winding. Lot of possibilities which need to be explored.

But if you know about pushing the safety switch on the door and spinning the drum by hand to get the motor started, you can probably fix this.
