how do you have the combo connection and dish network hooked to the tv ? if you have an s-video , yellow RCA jack video or component video hooked to the same input then it will act this way, because two inputs cannot be on the same video input # on the tv.

you should have received a warranty with it take it back to the store you received it from and work things out

Replace the laser on DVD player and that will resolve your problem. Todays lasers are not that reliable
