1) Have to remove the door first; top of the oven there are two screws closest to the door, take those out. and the door should lift out
2) flip the door on the table with the handle side down. starting on the handle side there are three clips (top, middle, and bottom) between the outside casing and inside trim. Using a thin screwdriver gently twist starting at either the top or bottom to pod the two casings apart. work your way around the door.
3) You should see one of the screws that hold the handle on (top) but the bottom screw is under the metal casing so you need to remove the screws around this casing as well to get the other handle screw off.
Once you start you will see it isn't as bad as this sounds. I bought the handle for $40.
It is a shame that this is so cheap and breaks off this easily. Surprisingly we have had ours for at least 6 years before the handle broke and we have 3 girls opening and closing this all the time so I guess I was one of the lucky ones.
Hope this helps and good luck

Thanks for the suggestions...However, I decided that I did not wat to spend another cent on this "cheap and inferior" product. The handle on my GE Advantium120 broke twice at the same spot, the point where the bottom of the handle attaches to the door. The first time GE replaced the entire door under the extended warranty I purchased. The second time I was told verbally that this problem was not covered. I was told by a GE parts representative that GE knows they have a design flaw but have chosen to ignor it from this point on. Anyway, I saw a mighty glue commercial and figured, what the hell. I am always needing something around the house to fix things. When I received my order of "mighty glue" I did just like they showed in the commercial, and instructions, molding it into a quarter size shape. I then pulled the lower portion of the handle away from the door as far as possible, without compromizing the upper attachment point, and slid the mighty glue wafer in between the door and handle. After clamping the door to the handle for several minutes (the recommended time indicated the instructions), While clamped I removed the excess glue that squeezed out becaused of the pressure. Once dry I used a black felt pen to color the dryed glue black to match the door and handle. That was over a month ago and so far so good. Infact, that door handle has never felt so secure. It looks just like new. I just hope it holds up better than a new door or door handle would. What I have learned is to never buy a GE or GE made product, but if you do, do not buy their extended warranty which is issued by Zurich Inurance Company. You might as well have flushed your money down the toilet if you do. I have spoken to a lawyer who is looking into a class action suit over this known defect Anybody seeking further information on this can e-mail me at [email protected].

I have a broken handle also. I took the panel off and was able to inscrew the top part of the handle but I am unable to get to the bottom screw . I cant get the panel off and I unsrewed all the screws. Please help.
The handle broke off. I have a replacement part but no instructions on how to install the new handle. Can anyone help?
I have had the same problem with the door handle braking. In fact it's happened twice. The first time GE replaced it under the extended warranty. Now they are refusing to do so claiming the extended warranty does not cover a "non-functional part" failure. The first time it broke I was told by a GE part sales person that this component fails quite often and GE knows it. Dispite this fact GE seems to be burying their heads in the sand leaving customers to fend for themselves. Sound like a good case for a "class action lawsuit".
We are having the same thing. Our handle broke, we popped off the black plastic "collar" got the top screw loose, and can/'t get to the bottom screw. We took out all the screws hold the window component out, but still can't get it to budge. As it is, I think we broke the clips that hold the black plastic on, so will need to get a replacement for that now, as well.
Our door handle has broken off 4 TIMES! We bought it at SEARs and, thankfully, purchased the warranty. The actual plastic broke completely so there was no way to just easily fix.  A repairman has had to come to the house. Once, the entire door had to be replaced. The last time it broke it was my 9 year old - just opening like usual. We got so tired of calling the repairman we just left the handle off and now open it from the bottom. A little harder, but still works. We also have problems with arcing ... especially with microwave popcorn. I love the convenience of having a 2nd oven - but I wouldn't buy this brand again.
the bottom plastic peg of the door handle broke off and I don't know hwo to remove the back of the door to instal a new handle, can you help?
My handle has broken off for the first time. My oven is about 2 years old. I am going to try to order the parts and repair it.
Handle broke off GE profile Advantium microwave oven and can't figure out how you would replace handle. Seems the solution is to have a service tech come out and fix it? GE was unhelfpul, except for telling me how to order part and cost 101.98, which infuriates me b/c this seems to be a PROBLEM with this microwave b/c I see here online that TONS of people are having this same problem. And this is an $800.00 microwave! Good luck! Disappointed!
Handle broke off and I have no instructions on how to install the replacement handle. No directions provided with new handle.
The door handle has broken off twice. The GE guy replaced the entire door and the new one lasted less than a year. Won't buy GE again!!!
Great pain in the neck...thanks for the site anyway....you would think that GE could engineer something better.
Handle broke off of GE Advantium microwave. Sounds like GE doesn't stand behind it's products. They lost a customer and I will be sure to pass the word onto as many people as possible.
Our handle broke off too. It's very disappointing to be a victim of poor quality. It really makes me think about our next GE purchase. The handle broke off at the bottom first, and eventually my husband yanked the entire handle off. I found the part on the GE site, and plan to replace it per the recommendations on this site. Thanks for your insigts.
Roger did the right thing. After three free doors from GE I resorted to "super glue" with a long spout. After injecting the glue I clamped the handle and so far (16 months) it is holding. I got the run around after the 3rd handle failure from GE but used the compaint email and got a new door fed exed the next day. I have three handles and two doors in storage!
Our handle broke off, too. Very poor quality. Thanks for the fix.
I've had to replace the handle on our Advantium twice now, and it's broken for a third time. And the plastic door frame where the hand attaches has been cracking too. I think this time I'll need a new door. I plan to complain to GE to see if I can get one for free. This design flaw is too bad because I love the way it cooks.
