Voicemail and password

We changed our service to charter we have a nortel t7316e when that happened our voicemail is an inactive feature. I was trying to get into setup but it requires a 8-10 digit password and I have no idea what that may be. No one works here from when these phones were installed

I would unplug power to the voicemail, then restore. Wait 10 minutes and then do the same to the phone system.

What you are trying to do is reinitialize the voiecmail, if you dont know what you are doing you will do more harm than good.

Hi. Inactive feature often means that there's a problem with your connection to the call pilot. Do you have lights on your call pilot? Did you assign a mailbox to the extension you're working on? Did you remember to connect the call pilot to a station port?

Unable to access voicemail feature inactive

This means the system can no longer communicate with the voice mail. You can try to locate the voice mail and power cycle the unit to resolve the issue, If you still get inactive feature after the reboot you will need to replace the vms.

Is the machine call pilot 100 or 150.if 100 the 2 leds in your left hand side should be on also in your right hand side the middle led should be on same for 150 the 4 leds in your left hand side should be on.1) Try to unplug the power cable and re-connect it again.2) Make sure that the the output telephone cable [100 (2 pair) or 150 (4 pair)] depends on the device comming from the call pilot to the Nortel PABX connected properly from both sides. dont hesitate to contact me if you are facing any doubt.Goodluck and Kind Regards;

My MBOX is locked on my T7316E Nortel phone. Also, trying to retrieve messages from home I somehow changed the password and I don't know what it is.

Feature 983 log in is 120000 (if 2 digit extension, 1020000 if 3 digit, 10020000 if 4 digit extensions)
Select Mbox, enter that locked extensions mail box number, You will see password RESET. Select RESET. Release out. This will reset that mail box password to 0000. Use feature 981 on that phone and enter the new default password of 0000. you will then be prompted to change the password.


Feature 985 will show you your mailbox extension

Voicemail feature does not work. Says 'INACTIVE'

Unplug your voicemail system from the electrical outlet for 1 minute, then plug it back in. This should clear any glitches in the system when it reboots. It may take up to 15 minutes to completely reboot. If the system still does not work after that, it may be in need of repair. You can search for local repair right here on FixYa.com.

How to get voicemail from another phone nortel 7316e I am trying to get my office messaged from my cell.

If your trying to get your messages from another nortel set in the office press your open voicemail button or feature 981. The left soft key below the screen should say OTHR. press the soft key the screen should change to LOG: enter in the mailbox number followed by the password and #.
If your trying to get your messages remotely, call into the office and when the auto attendant answers, press ** followed by your mailbox number password and #.

Call in a pro, sounds like the voicemail either took a ****, or just needs rebooting.
