Not sure on this one but it might be the heads in your vid cam may need cleaning.
or the tapes are not running straight on the heads or the rollers in side.
if the vid cam has been in a cold place it can cause this fault as the heads may have a bit of damp.
try putting a tape in and run it fast forword in play mode and see if starts to clear the playhead.if it does keep doing it until you see a clear picture.
this could also be a head misalignment fault if it is you will have to take it to some one to have a look at.
if any of the above does not work then you will have to take to some one to look at it.
.

Testimonial: "I will try this. I had left it in the car during the day on Friday and it was a very cold day so this could be the reason. Thank you for your help and prompt response ??"

I pressed play and fast forwarded it to the end, then I rewound it whilst playing. The images started to show up on the rewind with black lines going through it, so I repeated the exercise and then the full images appeared. I checked all tapes and they all play great. Thank you once again Noel x

Play back on jvc video movie GR-A1E distorted

It is possible that the heads in your JVC video camera need cleaning, especially if the playback picture looks distorted and similar to a VHS tape played on a player with dirty heads. Dirty or worn-out heads can cause playback issues, including poor picture quality, distorted images, and tracking problems.
To clean the heads in your JVC video camera, you can try the following steps:
  1. Purchase a head cleaning cassette: You can find head cleaning cassettes online or in electronics stores. Make sure to get one that is compatible with your JVC video camera.
  2. Insert the cleaning cassette: Open the tape compartment on your JVC video camera and insert the head cleaning cassette. Close the tape compartment.
  3. Run the cleaning tape: Press the play button on your JVC video camera to run the cleaning tape. The cleaning tape will clean the video heads as it plays.
  4. Eject the cleaning tape: Once the cleaning tape has finished playing, eject it from your JVC video camera.
  5. Test your tapes: Try playing your tapes again to see if the picture quality has improved.
If cleaning the heads does not solve the problem, it is possible that there is a more serious issue with your JVC video camera.

Blue screen on playback on Sony DCR-HC40

You can see an image in a camcorder viewfinder any time the camera's actually on in record mode, whether or not the camcorder is actually recording. So that's no guarantee.

Assuming the obvious (you have the right kind of tapes, they're not in write-protect mode, you rewind before playing, etc). I recommend that you borrow a tape of the same kind from someone else and check it on playback in your camcorder. This should lead you know understand if you have a playback problem or a recording problem.

Sony dcr-hc35e

first try a cleaning tape and this will not solve the problem have a service dealer check the unit.ru the cleaning tape once and try to playback a good old recording, if it does not work try to run the tape twice before testing . do not run the tape too many times as you may damage the video heads.one cleaning session should not be longer than 10-15 seconds. most of the new cams are stopping the cleaning tape playback after 10-15 secs.

Lines in tape playback

Someone here recommended taping with the lense cap on in a quiet room for 5-10 minutes. When I played it back, no more skipping or gray lines. This worked for me!!!!
