How do I change the volume of my sound bar using the harmony 650? Right now the volume button only changes the volume of the TV. I have an LG tv and a Samsung sound bar connected by blue tooth. Thanks

There is a code for every tv that you will have to load into the remote. Ask Radio Shack person how to get your code onto your remote.

I had this same problem and it was due to their instructions which do not adequately explain the setup procedure.

On my own, I was successful in programming volume up but that was all. I assumed that for volume down I would hold the power button and the VOLUME DOWN button and wait for the flashing light just as I had for volume up. Problem is, you never get a flashing light.

Today, I spoke with a rep from Boston Acoustics who patiently explained that step one of the instructions has to be done the same way each time as it is the step that puts the soundbar into programming mode.

It is only at step 2 that things change.

The solution is to hold the power button and the Volume Up button every time in order to get the system into programming mode. Once the light is flashing, in order to program Volume Down, you then hold the Volume Down button until the light goes solid. Once the light goes solid, then press the volume down button on your remote 4 times slowly. Works like a charm.

Works the same way to program the mute button. Follow step one to get the unit in programming mode. Once the light is flashing, hold down only the mute button until the light goes solid. When the light goes solid, press the mute button slowly 4 times.


OBTW, this was programmed with a Logitech Harmony 650 remote unit.

try factory reset in main menu or press menu continuaslly until it no longer comes up then 7777 on remote

try the volume if this works then press SELECT to save the code. If not then press TV again then the volume. repeat this step until the volume works then press the SELECT button to save the code.

Right you said in your post that it only works part of the tv, what this is when you have saved the code into the remote it is very close but not the correct code for the LG Model you have. So imput the code as mentioned above but when your checking the volume dont press SELECT straight away try the help button. power button etc then save that code if it works them. when it is the correct code you should be able to press the TV button then power = power . Help = changes av / source. Number button change channels etc. On certain tv's on a sky + or hd the pause/play changes the aspect ration on the tv aswell. They volume indicator you are seeing is meant to show the volume of content if it were to be recorded on the cable's dvr. This indicator has no effect on the volume of content as it is being watched. This feature allows recording of sound at a set volume even while the tv is off. It sounds as though you'll just have to use the volume buttons on your tv's remote, though you might want to try seeing if there is alternative set-up for those cable volume buttons.

There are some inductors that are out of spec. LG's original SB said to replace some of these with a jumper, but it only lasted a couple months.

You need to have the Total Main Assy replaced.

you may need to reprogram your remote, or, if you have your profile setup on the harmony website, reload from there

If the volume buttons work when using the Radio, then the buttons on the Remote are fine.
Now if the volume on your TV is set to MAX and you can barely hear it.
The issue lies with your TV.. ()
Now if I understand correctly or if I am to assume you are using a Reviever.
If the reciever is used for all volumes... If this is the case.
I also assume the volume on the TV Speakers is set to off
Therefore when you use the Radio/DVD the volume control is using the Reciever volume.
and when you switch to TV it uses the TV volume thus the TV volume is not gonna work as well.
2 scenarios
1 The TV volume even at max is not giving you enough power to get the low receiver volume
2 the Receiver volume is at max and barely audible.. if this is the case just manualy adjust your TV volume to get it to a decent sound level.

Hard to explain but I know the 2 issues can be fixed.
