Ouch.

Before you start changing all sort of parts, correct your problem with the wires. You may have to change most of them, depending on how bad the chemical burned tru them.

A good cleaning is required because that soap is going to continue chewing on those wires.

You're right about a short causing other component failure. But first repair those wires

My washing machine timer cannot running??

Could be the timer is defect. Could be one of the sensors is holding it. Like when heating the water, the timer waits till the thermostat gives a signal the chosen temperature is reached. Or when it gets water the water level sensor needs to give a signal the level is reached.
Then there could be a lose connection. So lots of causes can stop the timer. You need to be a tech to find out the real cause.

Water will not shut off after starting

If water keeps running even if the unit is unplugged than the water solenoid valve has become defective.

if the water stops when power is off than there is a problem with either the timer or the fill switch. My bet is on the timer.

Always be careful when opening the top cover. you will be exposing wires. power must be turned off at the breaker or the unit unplugged.

Verify the contactor for working condition. maybe burned wires or bad contactor. if it is good then the rinse thermostat or, less likely, the booster element.

When I fill my tub and turn the timer on it only shows an "L". I know this means that the water level is too low, but even when the water is well above the jets, it still say "L". I...

this happens sometimes when the leads under the tub get a bit corroded. Get under the tub and find the studs and screws that are at the end of the low water sensor wires and clean them up with some emery cloth then reinstall them.
this should get you back up and running again.

My cw series is a plumbed-in unit. Water flows continuously from the spray head. I think that either (1) the water level sensor is bad (2) the shut off valve is stuck open. Ideas? Can the water level...

The CW series brewers do not have level probes they run strictly on a timer and a solenoid to control the water flow. So, that said, the problem could be the solenoid. If the brewer constantly drips/runs even when the front "ON/OFF" switch is off then it is the solenoid. If the brewing stops with switch off then it is the timer. The timer is located in the panel behind the filter basket on the front of the machine (6 screws) If the brewer has a manual timer set it to about 2 minutes, a good starting point for a pot of water (1/2 gallon). If it stops brewing then you need to fine tune the timer to give you right amount of water for your brewing method. If it doesn't stop... then you will need a new timer. If your brewer does NOT have a "dial/manual" timer follow the instructions on the backside of the panel to "reset" the brew level. If it does not reset you will need a new control board. Hope this helps.
