I have the yamaha Rx-V371. Receiver shuts down when hooking up new netbox from Rogers?? Worked fine with old netbox?? I have all speaker dis-connected. Help Please...and thanks

Blown output stage, blown fuse, speakers not plugged in etc

That unit give you the option for a second set of speakers ?

If so , connect to Output 2 ( or B) on the speakers connections and select Spkr 2 ( or B) from the front panel

Disconnect any speakers from it and see if it still turns off. If it doesn't, then you have a shorted speaker or speaker wire. If it does still turn off, then it would need to go in for repairs.

• Check again with no speakers connected, if it doesnt shut off,

Check speaker system, connect one at a time to find the cause.


• If the receiver still shuts down without the speakers,

troubleshoot inside the unit.

My first thought would be that when you moved the receiver to connect another DVD, the problem quit since the speaker wires moved. The best way to test would be to re connect the original unit the same way as the new unit and test again. If it still cuts out, disconnect the speaker wires and re test. if it still cuts out, try the new player and test again. if it does not cut out, there may be a problem with the old units audio output. Generally if its a problem with the receiver it would not matter what source you are using, even the tuner on the receiver, if there was a short in the receiver it would cut out. I had the same problem with my Yamaha amp. It turned out to be a shorting speaker wire. When I resoldered the speaker wall outlet connection it worked fine!

Unplug all the speaker wires first, then unplug the unit from the wall for at least 24 hours, The plug back in without the speaker wires or anything else plugged in. Then see if it goes to the protection mode. If it does not, plug in each speaker at a time, and see if any speaker, when hooked up, makes the receiver shut down. If it does shut down, My friend, I'm afraid you will need to take this unit into a repair shop, OR get a new unit. Good Luck

This maybe an easy one. Have you unhooked all the wires going in to the stereo. "SP wires" means you have wires to the speakers are touching and the stereo is shutting down to avoid overloading. Hope this helps...

Get another receiver! I had the same problem and had the power supply replaced $250 and after 3 months it started doing the same thing.  I just purchased a Pinoeer Elite VSX 90TXV.
