Put the 'dummy key' that came in with it, turn it a 1/4 turn right, put smart key in, pull out smart key. pull out the key and insert the key that you would have as a desired key and turn left 1/4. thats it!!!!!!

I forgot the code and I lost the key

The Weiser brand and Kwikset brand Powerbolt are identical, so these instructions will work just fine for you:

Exterior key for deadbolt just turns around and around.

It sounds like the exterior tumbler is bad, it is less expensive to just replace the whole deadbolt than to have the tumbler repaired.

Kwikset Smart Key Deadbolt Won't Unlock

Kwikset Smart Key locks are complete junk. I am a locksmith and I am constantly going from house to house replacing these "dumb key" locks with original kwikset pin tumbler locks. What happens is either your key or the wafers inside the lock wear slightly, slightly enough to cause your keys to not turn, and since these locks cannot be picked due to a side bar system, they must be drilled off and thrown away when this happens Unless you have another access point to get in the house. If you do remove lock from the inside, throw it in the trash, buy original kwikset and replace.

Key won't turn deadbolt

Try using your smartkey to "rekey" the lock to the original key... there's really no reason to buy the smartkey system unless you change locks alot... they are meant for the apartment industry more than anything I believe... in any case, the smartkey system allows you to rekey the lock without removing it from the door... so, use the original key and use the smartkey to rekey it or select a different cut and key it to that key... should solve your problem.

Last resort... take it back to HD for replacement.

Kwikset smart code touchpad electronic deadbolt

I have the same problem, electronic locking system went dead but still beeps, stuck using keys now...according to the kwikset website though it says "Warranties cover the original residential user of Kwikset Products against defects in material and workmanship as long as the original user occupies the residential premises upon which the product was originally installed." so hopefully they will fix the problem

Lost keys to my Entry door lock

Visit your local Home Depot and purchase a Kwikset re-keying kit. They're inexpensive and work fine but stay alert and follow the instructions properly. This kit comes complete with proper pins as well as new keys. Good Luck!
