I had an arcing sound coming from above the cardboard panel inside the microwave. When I saw it sparking I took the cover off and saw that these two aluminum looking things had come loose. I removed the cover and did a fair bit of 'fine tuning' to get it working again.

A loud humming noise in microwave mode will usually be a shorted high voltage diode or bad magnetron.

If it is making a loud noise, check the diode and magnetron for damage.
BEWARE OF LETHAL VOLTAGES!
The fault may be just the diode and a reasonable cost will be involved. If it is the magnetron, depending upon where you purchase one from will command the price.

Chances are you have a bad stirrer motor or the stirrer blade is jamming or loose on the motor shaft.

Your owner's manual should tell you how to remove the stirrer cover to check it.

If all of your door switches check out, replace the magnatron, capacitor, and diodes.

I would recommend changing the diodes as well. This will usually take care of the problem.
