Check your DSL Filters on your house phones or anything connected to the phone line EXCEPT the modem. The modem should not have a filter on it. If this doesnt help I would recommend getting your ISP out to test the line because sometimes the resisitors or hardware in the box goes bad or at the DSLAM.

Power cord
RJ-11 telephone cable coming from a splitter or the extn. line of your landline phone.
Ethernet cable coming from your Desktop/Laptop connecting RJ-45 port
Most standard ADSL modems have four/five lights in the front :
Power light to indicate electric power to the modem.
ADSL light indicates the status of ADSL sync. When the modem is synchronized with the ADSL line card at the other end of the circuit/loop, the DSL light will be steady green.
LAN light will glow steady green when the modem detects a successful link to a computer or router ethernet port.
ACT i.c. Activity light glows when the modem is sending and/or receiving data on the lan and wan. It will vary between very slow to fast flashing and steady green to indicate lan/wan traffic.

My modems LAN light is blinking and I can't get Internet, I've tried unplugging it, but the problem still exists, please help

There will be 4 lights...

Power
Dsl
Internet
Ethernet

Power light indicates power supply is good...
Ethernet light indicates connection between modem and computer is good...
DSL light indicates connection between modem and telphone line is good... Also DSL light should be steady and it should not flash...
If it flashes then it says there is a lot of noise in telephone line...
Internet light says whether the internet status is connected or not...Internet light can flash depending upon the internet activity...

My linksys router keeps dropping connectivity to the internet

does your router and your landline phone is in one connection in with a splitter..
does connection failed whenever there's a call?
if so your splitter might be broken
or you must insert your phone line with the splitter, it might be in your connection set up..
or make sure your utp cable is stable and not in exposure area of people or pet where it might be touch or something..

hope this helps...

Internet

Well, I understand that the modem is SS4100, which means ther are
5lights on it being, Power, Ethernet, DSL, Internet & Activity....
Note:The trouble shooting is done according to the Light Status on the modem.
1. No matter what the proble is, the first step is to Power Cycle the modem to eliminate the static on the modem(to switch it off and back on).
2. If the Power Light is anything other than a solid green, then the modem is fried(except the fact that the adapter is plugged and working).
3. If the Power is green and Ethernet is off, then check for the LAN cable at the back
of the computer if its connected to the modem.(It turns green if connected properly)
4. If the DSL light is anything other than solid green, then call up the ISP tech's to ask why the intenet is not working.
(make sure the DSL cable is plugged firmly onto the back of the modem and the wall jack)
5. If the Power, Ethernet and the DSL is green and the internet is not, the open up the Modem page(type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar and enter for the modem page), and cross-check for the username and the password. Save the changes and your internet is working!!!
6.  The Activity light usually blinks green and it does't have much to do with the troubleshooting.
The above are the basic troubleshooting steps.
Hope it solves your problem......

Belkin modem

your modem is not the same...... the red/green arrows does not apply as it is for the other device

you need to log into you modem (the quick setup guide will tell you how to do this)

the status page will tell you if you are connected on adsl (there is also a link light on the modem itself which goes solid on (not flashing) when connected properly

if on the status page it is not reading as connected you need to check your logon info and check the logs to see why it is not connecting..

if it reports that it is connected, then there are a few system properties that you need to check.

open Internet properties (right click on intenet explorer, choose internet options) in the connection menu, choose "Never dial a connection" press Apply, then press "LAN settings" button and tick box "Automatically detect settings"

close Internet explorer then open internet explorer, it should spend a few seconds checking your settings then it should get out to the internet..

job done...

ADSL Router DSL-G604T

all ADSL routers are very fussy when it comes to power fluctuations, even the tiniest can set them into error, first thing to try, is pull the power cord out of the back of the modem, wait a couple of minuteds, then plug it back it, give it a few moments to re-connect and see how it is, if no luck with that, check the DSL, or ADSL light is on and solid.. if so look on the bottom of the modem for an ip address, open internet explorer browser, type that ip address into the address bar and hit enter, it should prompt you for a username and password.. usually ADMIN for both user and pass.. then go to "status" or "diagnostics" depending on the modem, and it will give you a run down on any potential problem..

PPP error: username and password are wrong (Authentication Failure)
