Phone says 1 new text message but nothing is there how to get rid of notification that I have a new message when I dont

Aimee I think it would be better to take it back or at least ring them up and tell em what your problem is, or ring Samsung. Firs try powering down by holding the Power Button down for 10 sec.

Just tap the "Clear" button on the Right of the Notification bar.

Also going to the message thread and reading the text message will also remove the notification.

Whenever a sender sends you text messages, the notification just pops up automatically. You dont have to press anything to receive a text message. You just have to press the key where the "Read" message indicates.

1) under my files make a folder named notifications. 2) put the ringtone you want to have as the notification ringtone in the folder, 3) go to message then press the menu key 4) go to settings and select the notification ringtone

dqauto, I have this exact same problem. It's been happening for the past couple months. The only thing I can think of is that the software is no longer supported because its so old. I dont want to get rid of the phone but not be able to recieve texts is a big issue. Please let me know if you find any answers, im sure there are others with the same problem.

well i am not so sure about what would have went wrong..but you can check if you have enabled Screened messages. In that case messages do come but they directly go into the screened messages.

u need to go in to your sound setting go on to message tone looks like its set on silent then u will be able to hear it when it goes off

If you do not exit voicemail with *, you will get a text message with a couple of symbols. In that case, go to text message menu & delete that message--the icon on the main screen will disappear!
