SOURCE: My kMix kmx50 stand mixer trips the power to when I put the head down

The problem may be the wiring /cables from the base unit that runs up inside the machine to the motor has got damaged and is shorting out against the casing or shorting out between cables
especially at the hinge point , you will need to gain access to inner wiring/ to repair, good luck PS it may only need a bit of insulation tape around cables , good luck

How do I take the gearbox out of my kmix stand mixer

Hi Carol , I had the same problem. You should open the main cover, then, remove the 3 screws (see picture), and remove the nickel plated ring, then, take out one screw from the bottom (see picture), then open 4 screws that holds the gear box from the top .

good luck.

I have a kenwood KMx 50 mixer & it has a speed control problem when you trurn the speed knob a little way the mixer accelerates to top speed then slows to approx 30% speed, then you can adjust the speed....

KMX50 would start and accelerate to high speed, then slow down some with fairly erratic speed. I tried changing the triac on the main speed control board, then also the whole board (£45). It made no difference.

The only other component I realised it might be was the speed control board which is on the rear end of the motor under the main cover (I found this component on a site selling Kenwood parts, and was where I got the main board from, which is how I know it's speed control). When I inspected it I found two of the terminals broken. You had to look very closely to see they were broken. It's a poor design as the three legs of the terminals are quite long, and very thin, so on high speed when kneading there is much vibration, which is why I suspect the terminals broke. I cut them back just enough to resolder. The component isn't quite fully inside the sensor wheel on the motor shaft, but it still picks up sufficient signal to control the speed and now works fine. Haven't tried it under load yet, but no reason to think it won't work correctly. So check this before ordering a £45 board!

Can't remove steel bowl from Kenwood KMIX stand mixer.

I am having this problem - I know it's a twist and twist off thing of course as I've used it many times. But now twisting it off is not working and I need to wash it!!! Can't believe this of all things has gone wrong, never mind anything electronic!

Can't remove beater kmix from machine. it's stuck!kenwood

Here's how to fix the stuck implement problem:

The implements each have adjustable heights. to adjust the height you need to loosen the bolt at the top with a 14mm spanner. If the bolt was loose when it was being used then it can get too short and not leave enough clearance between the bolt and the machine in order to push up and turn to release the implement. If this happens take the open ended spanner, grasp the implement and rotate the spanner clockwise (when looking up at the machine from below. Once the nut is loose rotate the implement until there is enough clearance to remove it normally.
