How to fix a sandisk fat is corrupted please recover fat

You could try the following:

Start with the Clip turned OFF. Slide the power switch down to the HOLD position. Press and HOLD the center button depressed until it is recognized by the PC- give it a few seconds.

The Clip's display will state "connected" with the device now in MSC mode.

You can now repair the File Allocation Table (FAT) using Windows' chkdsk utility.

Open My Computer and find the Clip a listed under "devices with removable storage" as a flash drive. Let's say it displays as E: SANSA CLIP for example. Our assigned drive letter is E:

From the Run box under Start, enter cmd and press Enter. You will get a DOS window.

Enter chkdsk E: /f and press Enter. The /f toggle tells the utility to fix the errors.

After clicking on the Safely Remove icon in the taskbar, or right clicking on the Clip and selecting Eject, unplug the Clip.

Try powering it up again, and see if all is well.

Message says FAT corrupted

FAT stands for File Allocation Table.  It is basically the table of contents like a book would have.  It tells whatever device is using it where the information is stored on the memory.  If there is nothing on it that you absolutely need saved, I would connect it to a computer and format the card.

My sansa fuze is not working

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me;.

Offhand, the message indicates that the Sansa is requesting that the internal storage be reformatted using the PC. This would require that the Fuze be connected to the PC through USB. Thereafter, the computer would recognize it as an external storage device. Steps required to format:
  • connect Sansa Fuse to USB of PC;
  • double click on "My Computer";
  • it would show probable as an "E";
  • right click on the "E" and click on "Format...";
  • a new window will pop up;
  • under the "File system" pls select FAT or FAT 32;
  • verify that "Quick Format" is un-checked;
  • click on Start button.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Sansa fuze 4 g photos wont open

Get "Sansa Media Converter" from the Sansa website or the CD that came with you Fuze.

If you are not using the "Sansa Media Converter" program to convert the photos to a format the Fuze can display, they will not show up.
