First, whatever you buy be sure it is Transmission/hydraulic fluid not just hydraulic oil. The hydraulic and trans oil are the same oil. John Deere trans fluid will work, Case IH. Tractor supply has a fluid that works good, Traveller Trans/Hydraulic Renew. It is for older tractors.

What type of hydraulic fulid to use in ford 600 tractor

Get a top quality non-water based fluid and you will be OK. I looked around on the web and could not find any recommended fluid for the 600. Make sure you use real hydraulic fluid not engine oil. Hydraulic fluid has more anti-foaming and wear agents in the fluid. A real tractor shop will certainly help you with your purchase.

The 3 point linkage on a ford 4000 tractor is only lifting half way and stopping with weight on it. what would be the problem?

I am not an expert nor have much experience - just a guess - low on hydraulic fluid? Check hydraulic fluid reservoir, if any, for correct level of fluid. Add correct fluid if necessary. If really low - suggests a possible leak somewhere. Should check for that as well.
