If there is high voltage (same as when purchased), the problem is with the fence. In this case, it could be a broken wire, a bad splice joint, or anything that is not allowing voltage through. If the charger is clicking and there is low voltage, or if it turns on and won't click, there is a problem with the charger.
Grounding is very important for an electric fence, especially in dry soil. I normally drive 2 or 3 - 6 foot long ground rods 10 feet apart then join them all together and run that to the charger using double 14 gauge or 12 gauge copper wire. You can get the roda at Tractor Supply.
The click is the transformer carrying current. If the unit doesn't click, unhook the fence from it and turn it on. If it starts clicking it is a short on the fence. If it doesn't then the unit is not working. contact parmak and they can service it or sell you a replacement circuit board which is the most common failure.
I would first start with the battewry, 2 year run on battery is pretty good. You can go online and find replacement batteries or go to place of purchase and check with them.
With the fence connected or not?. with; then disconnect and turn it on again . if it works fence problem if not unit problem. with-out; unit problem . most likely PCB
We have what looks like the same charger. When you open the box right side up, from the front, the yellow wire is soldered to the right side of the circuit board right above the little white box that is marked .47363. It is next to a small round black transister.
hi
i am not aware of a manual that are available for this quite an old unit.
you can test it by using an electric multimeter set the setting on volts / plug in the fence unit switch on hold the meter probes on the out put of the unit them you should have voltage reding
I would try removing the battery and charging it with a proper low-amperage charger (1 amp). Your battery will either be 6 volt or 12 volt, just be sure the charger matches.
Also check the ground rod and all wiring connections.
