SOURCE: kitchenaid model KHHS179LSS Microwave oven handle replacement

There is a pin holding the door on upper right hand corner of the door. Holding the door in the open position, lift up on the door a little and remove the pin. The door will come off. There are two screws on the edges of the door on the end where the handle is located. Remove the screws. Now, Take a slim screw driver, and carefully pry between the inside door panel and the ourside door panel starting at the end where the door handle is. Lift the inside of the door out. The opposite end of the inside door panel will come out last. Believe me, this works. Getting it back together is a little bit different, but it snaps back together without using tools. Just put the inside of the door back by laying it down with the handle side down after you have replaced the handle of course. Now, pushing in on the inside of the door panel starting on the handle side, start with lining up the panel and push gently. It will go back into place much much easier than it comes out.

SOURCE: KitchenAid Microwave Touch pad stopped working. Spoke to a technician and told me that you have to replace the complete door. Is this true??? Part No. AP4500800 Mfg Part Number W10282802 Microwave mo

no you don't have to replace the whole door that is lazy :) here is what i did, having the same issues you did with the same model of microwave.

For the KitchenAid microwave, model: KHMS2050SSS2 I found that i did not have to remove the screw. what i did was loosen the screw as much as it would go before getting tight again.(hard to screw) then on the bottom end of the door hinge (lying on its side) i pryed the bottom hinge off its mount. (with flat head screwdriver) from there i was able to get at the screws to separate the black surrounding stuff from the outside door... then finally i could get inside to get at the door panel controls. I noticed a whole bunch of condensation and on the back of the touch panel (electrical board).. i will replace that part as I think that is the culprit as to why the keys get pressed randomly, beeping randomly and wonkiness :)

MY KITHCENAID MICROWAVE MODEL KHMS155L TURNS ON BY ITSELF,OCCASIONALLY WILL GO TO F2.

Possible fault with the customer touch pad or the controls. Sometimes this is caused by insect secretion - cockroaches- which can make the controller processor board act with such erractic behaviour.
Try to remove the power, remove cover and remove the main controller board and control pad to be washed, cleaned and reset. take care of the strip connection and wires.

Kitchenaid microwave runs for a few seconds and then shows error code F7. Kitchenaid Phone Center never heard of this error.

Hi alykat737,

This error code F7 on KitchenAid microwave is about a function key that is stuck on ERC. You will have to Replace control board (also called ERC or clock) to fix the problem. In case you will have to buy a replacement part you may contact Sears for the replacement part at 1-800-252-1698; M-F 6:30 AM-10:30 PM - Sat 7:00 AM-9:30 PM - Sun 7:30 AM-9:30 PM - All times Central.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Microwave turns on, on its own, beeps non-stop

This is usually caused by a defective touch pad and it not it is the control panel. Replacement costs for either is usually rather expensive.

Microwave shows F2 on display with controls non functional

HI. this is a code that represents a failed key pad or touch pad membrane board. replacing this failed touch pad will fix this issue. This touch pad board is separate from the actual control board.

Microwave bulb replacement

The oven will need to come down from the wall so the outer cover can be taken off. Then you'll see the light socket(s).

It's recommend due to the weight and awkwardness of the oven that two people do this job.

If you don't still have your installation instructions, you can download them here, but you should use you full model number, as opposed to the base KEM378.

This uses a fairly common halogen bulb, but I'm not sure of the wattage. It should be marked on the bulb or on a tag near the reflector.

You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

Error Code

I would recheck the control board installtion that you made, as well as verify that you got the correct replacement. Also the board may contain static sensitive componets so you might want to make sure you are grounded when handleing the control panel. Good luck
