I'm pretty sure the inverter board is bad. you have to replace it if you can or you can let someone else do it. you should find some on ebay for about $80 (not too bad compared to the cost of the monitor: over $200). but its up to you. But first, you should find out if you are still under warranty. good luck. please rate!!

wjfarm48, Sure sounds like a power supply problem. How old is it? How many hours of use? Do you understand what a switch-mode-power-supply and an inverter supply is? If not, then here are your options. Check with Gateway to see if there is a swapout program. You box up and ship them your monitor+cash, and they return a REFURBISHED same model with new CCF tubes and inverter/SMPS. When you box up the monitor, follow this lead. "A 3 inch thick layer of breathable air shall be the only thing touching the lcd front panel" Next option is find some local TV/Monitor repair guy who can get parts and or replacement boards/CCFtubes from Gateway. Last but not least, is to repair yourself. Not Recomended.. But do a search on lcd monitor repair or Bad Capacitors In LCD Monitors or Repair of SMPS in LCD/FPD Monitors. Also check for videos on YouTUBE related to lcd monitor repair just for your own info. Here 's what you are dealing with. The light that makes your FPD bright white is generated by Cold Cathode Fluorescent Tubes (2) that require 600-1200vac at high frequency that is generated by an INVERTER which gets 12-24vdc from the SMPS. Almost the same technology is used in the new style screw-in curlie-que Compact Fluorescent light bulbs. Only they call the inverter a electronic ballast. Anyway, thats about all the info I have. Let me know how you make out in you quest to get your LCD up and running again. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ aol.com BYE for now.

It could be a faulty power cord. Try plugging it in and moving the cord around in the areas where it takes the most movement. Do the same with the data cable to see if you get a response there. If your cables are fine, the problem is most likely hardware in the monitor - in that case you're better off replacing the monitor.

Hi. this is a failed power supply. the power supply pack will have to be replaced. it located on the rear side of the tower in the upper corner. its where the power cord plugs into. replace the power pack and this will fix the issue at hand.

Hi Daniel Ludwig, what did you take the power cord out off ? was it the computer or the monitor ? Have you tried doing it for the monitor and check the video cable is connected ok
When you turned the computer do you hear beeping sound ? or the numlock of the keyboard light is working. IF the numlock light is working it's mean that your computer is working maybe your monitor connection or monitor itself. Can you trace the power cable and the VGA or video cable connection from monitor to the back of the CPU is connected properly
a 2008 PC dead. well; the coin cell cmos battery is dead and so is the HDD.
8 years old.
we check the battery first called coin cell.
below 2.9vdc is bad. coin, it is a $1 part.
blinks power means error.
means stuck in sleep or power failures
no history told
bought a dead 2008 PC? ?
or run for 8 years and failed today
or remove from storage after 3 years and is dead. the coin cell is bad.
replace that and reset bios. set time, date and boot order to HDD0 1st.
save ,exit ,bios.
cold boot it now.
PSU can be bad, as can all CAPS in this bad CAP year (era) PC.
