The fact that your air tank has a hole in it tells me that it is probably rusted internally. I would not attempt to repair it as the tank is probably unsafe.

IS THE AIR LEAKING FROM A SMALL LEVER ON THE SIDE WITH A TIRE STEM VALVE IN IT. IT HAS A SMALL COPPER OR PLASTIC LINE COMING FROM IT? THIS IS THE UNLOADER . IS SO YOUR INTANK CHECKVALVE MAY NOT BE HOLDING.

THE PRESSURE SWITCH IS TYPICALLY ADJUSTABLE FOR CUTOFF PRESSURE AND THE DIFFERENTAL (SPREAD) BETWEEN CUTIN AND CUTOUT

SOURCE: Craftsman Pancake Compressor loosing air while

That is likely the compression release. A pintle valve in it should close while the pressure switch runs the compressor. After the switch cuts off, the valve is released to bleed the pressure off the cylinder head of the compressor to allow it to restart without having a load on it.

When the pressure switch cuts off you should hear a woosh as it bleeds but it should NOT bleed while it is running. Take it apart and clean the seat. Be careful of springs that go sproing.

SOURCE: I have a pancake compressor that won't hold air

If you replaced the head gasket then its probably the valve plate and gasket.

I have an American Forge 2-1/2 HP air compressor with a leak in some type of valve that is located on the contact switch

the part is an unloader valve and it is available online, they are not usually brand specific. The valve is used to bleed off pressure from compressor to tank. If it is continually leaking the check valve from compressor to tank is leaking and is usually replaced

I have a Ridgid 5 gallon stackable air compressor that when I shut the compressor off, all the air discharges from the tanks. Do you know what the problem is?

You don't say how old this unit is. I had an older one and it had a small rust hole in it's tank. Had to get rid of it because the tank was rusted bad on the inside. Also check all the lines as they could be leaking as well. Also the one I have now leaked air because the compressor was low on oil. I got compressor oil and its ok now. Do not over fill as it will blow oil all over.

Air leaking from holes in oil filler plug

There's a check valve in the air line between the compressor and tank that sounds like it's failed.

Keeps blowing out the fluid from the plugs pin hole.

Hi canrxmi...
The fluid you see I suspect is water that has been compressed out of the air...because of the tempreture difference between the intake and exaust air...this helps bleed water from before it gets to the tank.

The compressor air supply line from comp. to storage tank has a tee at the tank with a brass pluss in it with a tiny pin hole and that is allow air to be expelled. Is this a safety plug or can it be...

no, do not block with a solid plug. This allows air to bleed off the compressor so it will restart when pressure switch makes. If air continually bleeds out of this hole i would check the tank check valve . It is bad or has trash or something keeping it from closing. If check valve is bad it will allow air from the tank to bleed down until compressor starts or no air left in tank if shut down

Dewalt compressor will not build up pressure

turn on and tap the top of the pin lightly also with no air in tank pull up and down on pin spray lightly with wd40 never let anyone use this pin valve to release pressure it will ruin the valve if you still have problems you can get a new universal check valve off the shelf at lowes for around $6 make sure you use thread tape when reinstalling

Dewalt compressor not filling with air

if you do not have any air leaks and it is a oil less compressor than it is most likely the piston seal is wore out. if it is an oil compressor that it is likely a flapper valve
