Mack, Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) will allow you to use Blackberry features that require Internet connectivity such as web browsing, email, instant messaging, social networking, and more. press the helpful button and follow me on fixya for more tips and info.
for activate vodacom bis on blackberry old OS phone, you need to contact vodacom customer service for all steps activation they give you properly. don't try outside and don't waste time.
"Airtime" will be billed on your account as used, once your 75 minutes included with the contact are used. SMS and Data can be topped up at anytime by purchasing a Bundle. Either purchase at a till point, via your online banking or by dialing *111#
You first need to buy R60 airtime for the network you are using such as MTN, Vodacom, Cell C etc. That R60 will be the amount you need for (BIS) Blackberry Internet Service. You need BIS to enable BBM (Blackberry Messenger) to work. Once you have topped up your airtime with R60, you need to dial *141*11# which should bring up the option to activate BIS. Choose BIS and not any other option. BIS is usually option 1, but just make sure you select to activate BIS. Once BIS is activated then you can go onto BBM (Blackberry Messenger) and you should be able to send messages. You then have internet access as well. The great thing about the BIS is that it lasts for a month, without you needing to pay anything after the R60 to send as many messages as you like for free on BBM, plus you can use the internet on your phone as much as you like too! I am experiencing a problem getting BIS on my Blackberry Curve which I shall ask a question about on this site!! Good luck :)
There are no settings for receiving SMS from any networks but if you want to send SMS , then the MESSAGE CENTRE NUMBER must be entered into the menu in the message settings.
This number should be given to you by the service provider you are using. SO call up your provider-Vodacom- to confirm the message centre number.
Which type of activation 1BES(enterprise activation) (you have to contact with your BB administrator) 2BIS(wireless activation)
