I have lost my Digital Camera Solution CD ROM for canon power shot SD1100 IS - is there anywhere on the web that I can download this?

The SD1100 uses MMC, MMC Plus, HC MMC Plus, SD, and SDHC cards. MMC cards are all but extinct, so consider it as using only SD and SDHC cards.

You don't need to use Canon's software. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.


Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

You can get the software from Canon support. Click on the link I have provided below, scroll down the page and select your OS (XP, Vista or Win 7 etc)
Click on "Software" and a drop down list will appear. Look down the list and download the application NOT the updater.

The SD1100 and SD1200 are close relatives, so the SD1100 manual would be close. However, you can download the SD1200 manual (and more) from the manufacturer's web site at

You don't really need the software. Just use a card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop.
