Era 8002F14E Reinstalling software on a new harddrive, i got a message 8002F14E to contact technical support

If it is a new hard drive it could need formatting or if it already has software loaded it could need the drive formatting on a different machine.

I have noticed something strange, probably in the bios settings of one computer I had contact with recently. It resisted all attempts to load an operating system on an empty drive but loading an operating system with a different machine and then reinstalling the drive in the original it accepted the new operating system without any further hitches.

Another thing to think about was the time we tried to take a look at a hard drive and all my friend's machines refused to read it.
It turned out his machines had 32 bit operating systems and the fresh hard drive was on 64 bit.

The "Red Screen of Death" usually happens in later PS3 Fat models right after you have turned on the PS3. It can happen right after the PS3 logo and wave animation appears. On the playstation 3 site error code tool says this code is an issue updating the PS3 sytem software. Try to start with the hard drive uninstalled then try again installed. If that dont help i would format the hard drive in a laptop and see if it helps. worst casr scenario you could dissasemble the PS3 and unplug tha battery on the main board and see if that helps. Sounds like you wiped out the harddrive try reinstalling the os if that does not work you may ned a new harddrive

I had this exact problem (drive stopped reading discs, then firmware update stopped at 71% with error 8002F14E). It is not a software / firmware issue, the problem is with your Blu-ray drive. Either one of the cables connecting it to the motherboard is damaged, or perhaps there is a problem with the laser or diode. In my case, the clip attachingthe drive's ribbon cable to the motherboard had come undone. Luckily, I managed to fix it myself, and the firmware update finished smoothly after that.

If you're not comfortable with opening the console and checking out the drive yourself, you'll have to send it in for repairs (since, as I said, it is generally a hardware problem, not something you can fix by redownloading the firmware or whatever).

The best soloution I read on this page was to power cycle your system and router etc... unplug all connections and leave unplugged for a whole two minutes, including your router then plug them back in and restart. If this doesn't work for you, then look at the other soloutions it has on the page.
