I have a new HP6500 wireless printer, Netgear WNR2000 router, and HP laptop w/Vista. When trying to install printer wirelessly), I get this msg: ''PC and the printer are connected to different networks(10.0.0.0 and 169.254.199.0). They must be connected to the same network. This can happen when you use the manufacturer's default network name (SSID) and another nearby network is using the same name.'' But, when I go to ''Attached Devices'' on Netgear routerlogin page, it shows IPs for total of 2 devices: 10.0.0.3 for the printer 10.0.0.2 for the PC I don't understand why the Printer installation CD shows diff IP addresses than what Netgear confirms, and how to correct it so the Printer will go wireless. Pls help, using layman's terms please! Thanks!

Im not the expert here ... still I would like to comment.

I think your printer should be 192.168. something . something. where the first something is the same as your compluter and the second something is a couple digits higher than your computer.

May I suggest you give Network Magic (a Cisco product) a try. You can work, on your printer through this program though they dont claim to support stand-a-lone printers yet. Download the free evaluation copy and give it a try. Alternatively, you could reattach your printer to a computer and share it with the network

Let me know if trhis works for you

Why did the router ID change when I linked it via the Wps button to the DSTV wifi gadget ?

Here's and excerpt from the Netgear WNR2000 user manual explaining that this is normal behavior for Netgear routers that support WPS..:
  • Keep Existing Wireless Settings. This check box is automatically selected after WPS is enabled to prevent unwanted settings changes, and is also selected if you have already specified wireless security settings or your SSID without using WPS. When this check box is not selected, adding a new wireless client using the push button or the Add WPS Client screen (see "Push Button Configuration" on page 2-14) changes the router's SSID and security passphrase. You might need to clear it if you are using certain registrars, such as for a Windows Vista PC, to configure the router through WPS.
Even if your router is not a WNR2000, it is likely that the configuration interface pretty much the same so you might be helped by looking at Chapter 2 page 17 in the WNR2000 manual here..:
Or else, go to Netgear support (NETGEAR Support Welcome), select Wi-Fi routers and download/display the user manual pdf and search it for "disable router's pin" or "keep existing wireless settings" and verify/change the setting so the router doesn't make changes when you use the WPS button.

HP OfficeJet 8500 Printer not printing from Wireless Laptop as it did before as the Wireless Antenna was replaced with a new one since it failed. the new one is: Netgear WNR2000 V2 and tech support by...

It looks like you are talking about 3 devices: laptop, router, and printer. Assuming you can connect to the router and Internet with your laptop indicates the router is OK with the new antenna. So the problem is with the printer. My suggestion is to remove or delete the printer from your laptop. I would then reset the printer and connect it wirelessly to the router again. Then add the printer to your laptop.
