We are not sure where to remain -- in the town or on the borders and are thinking what are the factors we should definitely not skip while we are there!
about the only thing i can think of that will do this while trying to start is that starter remains engauged after engine starts , the starter motor draws a lot of power ,the most of any item in your truck. and if it remains running after start the alternator/voltage reg supplys it's power instead of the battery , and one other thing your model year (and a few past that) has a common problem with a little thing called a bendix inside the starter sticking due to carbon build up and yep the symptom of this is the starter runs on after you let the key go but there can be other causes of this happening so all reasons need to be looked at
