Plasma TV'S contain many capacitors and TV manufacturers us substandard quality capacitors to make these TV'S affordable to the general public. If one of these capacitors goes out the TV will no longer turn on. If you feel comfortable removing the panels from the TV you can look at the circuit boards and find the capacitor(s) that have went bad. They will either be burned or the top of them will be burst open or bulging. From your description you will probably have one that will be burst open. If you know how to solder electric components this is a very cheap and easy fix. A TV repair man will charge quite a bit to do this.
