My riccar 555su machine starts sewing as soon as I plug in. Foot pedal is stationed inside cabinet by knee, but I'm not controlling it.

The pedal is stuck in the ON position. Unplug the sewing machine and try to open up the pedal to inspect it. Or try pressing the pedal a few time to loosen up the pedal movement. Good luck!.

SOURCE: foot pedal assembly for White sewing machine

You only need to replace the cord if it has been damaged. It will cost less if you just take the machine , cord and control to a local technician and have him just replace the foot control. Let him test it first. A generic foot control should cost less than $30.

SOURCE: My Viking 5710 starts to sew without any pressure on foot pedal

Mine does the exact same thing. I think the problem might lie in the cord to the foot pedal. The cord packs into the foot pedal for storage, which forces the cord to to remain bent during storage. I believe the wires in mind became damaged and broken so I took it apart and reconnected the wires at the spot where the connector meets with the wires. But I still don't leave it plugged in if I'm not using it, it could be a fire hazard.

Sounds like your foot control is faulty.
I can supply foot controls for 99% of sewing machines.

Can the machine sew aotomatically without the foot pedal,i.e. With a knee control. It is for a disabled lady

The Janome 4120qdc-b can be operated by hand, not need for a foot pedal. The machine comes with the foot pedal but when it's not installed, you can operate the machine by selecting the stop and go button. The machine has a speed regulator on the face of the machine.

I have an old brother Hz5 b1. Does anyone know that if this machine comes with a foot pedal? If so, where to get one? Thanks

There were generally 3 ways of running a sewing machine: foot treadle, knee control, or foot control. If yours has the plug for the foot control, take it to a local sewing machine shop and see if they can set you up with a foot control.

Riccar 555su was given to me, is there an on/off switch? Can I remove a knee controller from cabinet and replace with a foot controller? Thanks.

Most foot controllers are attached to the cabinet to be used as a knee control. If yours appears to be a foot pedal and the cords are long enough, you can probably remove it from the cabinet and try it on the floor.

My janome feedomatic compact sewing machine gone's wild. As soon as i plugged it on,itautomatically runs at full blast! Can anyone tell me what's wrong? I cant see any auto buttons on

unplug the foot controller to eliminate it as the problem ,however if the machine does not run like mad as soon as you switch it on
without the foot pedal then you have isolated the problem to the foot pedal,it could be stuck on full speed .

Should there be a pedal with this machine (201K) purchased in 1953? What is the metal twisted bar for?

sounds like you have a cabinet model, yes this machine requires either a foot or knee control, the twisted metal is probably part of the knee control mechanism. order foot contrrol or knee control to fit the machine from [email protected]

Knee pedal does not work

I think what you mean is that it lifts the foot. That is what its supposed to do. Some of the older ones it could be used for a speed control (30-40 years ago). The knee BAR is there to lift the foot for you so you can turn fabric etc. without having to reach behind and lift it. It acts as a third hand. You must have a foot control which plugs into the small hole on the right side of the machine.
Hope I helped.
