Singer 7442 won't stitch at all. It picks up the bobbin thread nicely, but after that won't stitch at all. Any suggestions?

Sound like one or the other of the threads is stuck. Completely un- thread your machine and remove the bobbin. See if the needle moves freely with the machine unthreaded. If it does, carefully rethread the machine and reinsert the bobbin, making sure the bobbin thread is feeding the correct direction. Let us know what happens.

Everything seems to be moving smoothly, but still
no stitching after re-threading the machine.
It picks up the bobbin thread so nicely, to get bobbin thread up thru the plate, I don't understand why it won't stitch a stitch. Getting so frustrated
I'm beginning to believe the poor reviews of the 7422 Advance machine. Some say that they have
great luck with it, but not me.

Thread started bunching on underside of project & tangling around bobbin. Now the needle won't pick up bobbin thread, even after changing needle 2x and re-threading upper thread. What's wrong?

Hmmm, could be several things.
Try a brand new needle. Try a different brand of thread.
Remove the top thread from the machine. RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct.

If it still will not pick up the bobbin thread, the machine could be out of time.

I have a singer model 7442. It won't pick up the bobbin thead

Try installing a brand new needle. If it still will not pick up the bobbin thread, most likely the machine is out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

I tried servicing the bobbin area of my Singer 7442. I followed the instructions in the manual carefully. The straight stitch is working but all other stitches are not catching in the bobbin.

Couple of things to check is the needle new? if not change it,
Pull the bobbin thread out and bobbin case, then put the machine on a zig zag stitch, turn the hand wheel slowly and see if the hook (pointy thing that catches the thread) is just above the eye on the needle (when the swing is all the way to right) if it is not then you need to take your machine in for service.

Good luck and please rate my answer.

Thread is bunching up and pulling fabric into feed dogs. also breaking top thread. i have cleaned and oiled, adjusted stitch length, changed needle, re-threaded, and adjusted tension. i should note i am a...

If the thread bunches up on the bottom sometimes it is the bobbin tension. You can remove the bobbin housing and may notice a screw. This screw "tensions" the tab where the thread goes through, creating tension on the thread. Another thing to check if the machine is on a "loose/stretch" stitch setting, this will allow the elastic to freely expand and contract. You may need to also adjust the "speed" of the feed teeth, to compensate for the slack. Often there is "stray thread" in or around the bobbin, which can cause problems, One of these may be the solution, Im being general in my information.

My Singer Advance 7422 skips stitches intermittently. Looks like it does not pick up the bobbin thread sometimes. Any suggestions?

Change to a new needle appropriate for the fabric you will be sewing. Make sure the flat side of the needle shank faces to the back of the sewing machine.

Always thread the machine with the presser foot up as this will "seat" the thread into the tension control.

Singer advance 7422

My Singer 7422 seems to be jammed. When I start to make a stitch, the thread from the needle gets caught on something on the bottom and the thread goes over the bobbin.

Singer 7442 will not sew

Had the same problem as mommyb2 - it was the bobbin spindel was in the wrong position. Push bobbin spindel to the left and it works for sewing.
Have the same problem winding my first bobbin - pushed spindel to the right to engage bobbin fuction and the machine locks up and wont wind the bobbin. Irig did you bring it in for repair? I'm thinking its broke - which **** as mine is a brand new machine
