My rc is broken... i accidentaly put my astron tv to factory setting..the horizontal and vertical has move.. i had to buy new rc... but i cnt go to factory setting..what will i do?

The image on a CRT TV is produced by a beam of electrons which is controlled by a magnetic field to move the beam top to bottom and left to right. A single line suggests that the vertical deflection is working but not the horizontal deflection (left to right). There are a number of components associated with this and requires a competent TV repair engineer to fix. Better to to buy a new TV!

I have had the same problem with the same TV .You need the Hitachi cable that runs from TV to control box.No other able will work,Whenyu have his it will autmaticaly change over for you.

It is a name well known for power supplies but if a DVD player and dead it may be cheaper to buy a new one.

this symptons is caused by a breakdown in the vertical deflection circuit. hence, the trouble may be in the vertical oscillator, amplifier or output circuit. in most modern tv the vertical ic is usually composed of these said circuit inside. the ic have many pins, standing on a heat sink and smaller in size. try to check also the capacitors surrounding it. sometimes leaky capacitor may cause this problem. good luck!

I have a similar problem on my CRT computer monitor (AcerView 76c). It is an old screen and I think it is just at the end of its life, much like your TV. Having some background in physics, I would be pretty sure that the problem is with the cathode ray tube's vertical deflection system. The horizontal deflection electrodes are working while the vertical one is not. This results in a display of a single horizontal line (or in my case, a few superimposed) in the centre of the screen. Where both X and Y (horizontal and vertical) deflectors fail then the electron gun firing would result in a single bright spot in the dead-centre of the screen.

So really, we have no choice but to move on and buy a new set as repair is probably just as, if not more, expensive than replacement with a new device. Seeing as your post was in 2007, I hope you managed to solve the problem.
