people are giving you answers for a "broken" unit. I have the same Garrison 5200BYU, and it's something I hate about it. You'll notice on the controls, theres a setting for "cool" and one for "Dry". Can't run both at the same time. I've never had an air conditioner that didn't dehumidify the air. After all, for cripes sake, it's why they're not called "aid coolers", they're called "air conditioners"! But I don't think your unit is broken, it's just a strange thing with this Garrison. I don't know if all Garrison are like that, or just this one. But this model is for sure. I wouldn't buy another.

I have Model ET8CHMXKQO-3 whirlpool fridge with the same problem. The problem I believe is due to the drain line to the tray that collects defrost water freezing up. Temporary solution is defrosting the fridge; permanent solution is running a thin wire thru the drain line that aparently prevents the condensing water from freezing. I am trying to find out how to install this wire and where to buy it.
