Most apps cannot be moved to an SD card as they are not written to use them. Some apps allow you to place data and cache information there. Mostly, SD cards are for storing pictures, music, and video.

Unless your version of Android allows you to move around app, you need a rooted phone. Then you need a special program, to make it possible to install an app in your external memory. Or at least to install an app that is on your external memory (SD card) into your main memory. Be aware if your phone has a small internal memory (8 or 16 Gbyte) it can be filled up very soon. Not only with the apps, but also with data, like mails and docs (pictures and so on) you have to have in your internal memory, so the phone can access them.
As soon as your internal memory is close to full you can't install anything. SO make sure a few Gb is free before you try to install anything.

Have a ZTE quartz 797c i cannot move apps I have card installed it shows i have one on the phone the 797c tells me to transfer some to the sd card but when i try there is no option to move apps

You CAN NOT move these types of files to the SD card, not sure why it would say this. To free up space you can move other files like photo's to the SD card.

I need help to fix htc phone storage

You can clear off whatsapp database , also check out if you have multiple whatsapp videoes , as videoes occupy more space. If you have an sd card, dont forget to move apps like facebook to the sd card. For moving apps to sd card, go to settings, then apps, select a particular app, and mostly at down you will get an option of move to sd card.

How do i clear storage on my zte phone? I can not even update my apps

Check to see where your downloaded apps are being stored. You probably have them going to your internal phone storage. If you haven't already, get a sd card and make it your default storage. Clear/move your apps from your phones internal memory to the sd card. Hope that helps!

I can't get my zte merit to write to the SD card?

I will actually ANSWER your question... Press the menu bar on the phone (this is the physical button on the bottom left with 3 straight horizontal lines on it) a popup on the screenwill give you the option to manage apps so push that. Up will pop all of the installed apps. You can go through them and as you click them you will see an option on some to move the information to the SD card. Not all of the apps can be moved though. It seems the ones that came with the phone cannot be moved over (at least not that i have figured out yet) But any games orother apps you have downloaded can be moved to the SD card. Make sure you wait for it to complete before changing out to the next app or it will not completely transfer over. I hope this helps.
