Benefits of Sysprep Sysprep provides the following benefits:
  • Removes system-specific data from Windows. Sysprep can remove all system-specific information from an installed Windows image, including the computer security identifier (SID). The Windows installation can then be captured and installed throughout an organization.
  • Configures Windows to boot to Audit mode. Audit mode enables you to install third-party applications and device drivers, as well as to test the functionality of the computer.
  • Configures Windows to boot to Windows Welcome. Configures a Windows installation to boot to Windows Welcome the next time the computer starts. In general, you configure a system to boot to Windows Welcome immediately before delivering the computer to a customer.

Update your driver. Depending on the manufacturer of your computer, each has its own website that provides free downloadable drivers. What you need is an audio driver compatible to the operating system you are using now. This should resolve the problem.

Error before welcome screen, double picture in welcome screen, hang after welcomescreen

If your monitor is showing weird colors before the Windows XP welcome screen then it might be that your monitor is bad. Try hooking up a different monitor and see if the colors look fine as the computer is booting up, if it does then you know the original monitor is bad, if the colors still look weird then you know your video card is going bad.

As far as the lockups are concerned, with the computer turned off, take out the memory. With a can of air, blow some on the contacts of the memory and into the memory slots on the motherboard. You want to do this to make sure that there is no dust or dirt cause that can cause lockups to happen.

Start Menu Picture Disappeared Suddenly

Turn the Welcome screen on or off It sounds as if you accidentally turned off the welcome screen. Here's how to turn that function on and off:

To turn the Welcome screen on or off
You must have a computer administrator account on a computer that is a member of a workgroup or is a stand-alone computer to turn on or turn off the Use the Welcome screen feature. Logging on at the Welcome screen is not available on computers that are members of a network domain.
  1. Open shortcutcold.gifUser Accounts in Control Panel.
  2. Click Change the way users log on or off.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To specify that users log on to the computer using the Welcome screen, select the Use the Welcome screen check box. A user logs on to the computer by clicking his or her user account name on the Welcome screen. If a password is assigned to the account, the user is prompted to type it.
    • To specify that users log on to the computer without using the Welcome screen, clear the Use the Welcome screen check box. The Welcome screen will no longer appear when you start the computer. To log on to the computer, type your user name (and password, if you have one) in the standard Log On to Windows dialog box.

  • To open User Accounts, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts.
  • Fast User Switching is available only when the Welcome screen is turned on. For more information, click Related Topics.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you require further assistance.
