I replaced the backlight on my toshiba 46L5200U. The back-light now stays on but the toshiba logo nor any picture is viable.

The TV originally had a classic dead backlight. The toshiba logo flashed, and then the screen went black. A flashlight revealed that the LCD panel was functional. Just that the backlight was out. After replacing the backlight with a new one on ShopJimmy, the backlight now stays on. But there is no Toshiba logo nor any picture visable. Audio from the TV can still be heard.

It is difficult to sort out the posts describing the T'Con board fault by that site, as it contains more than 5000 posts so far, and is daily updating by at least one post. Just type in "T Con board fault" in the search box at the top right of the home page to get gathered related posts. It will be the easiest way.

SOURCE: How do I fix my Toshiba LCD TV that no picture or audio?

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here. ..

Testimonial: "Your link have no past posts for this model. I do my own servicing since 1966, and worked with RCA radios and TVs with vacuum tubes, so all I need was a guide to confirm that the main board could be bad. BTW, how can I test the backlights? They have two signals "Dimmer" and "Inverter" which are always at zero volts. Which one will turn the backlight inverter on?"

Will the LED backlights glow even when one LED is not working?when i switch ON tv,the toshiba logo displayed for a second and then it goes off.Flash light test on black screen shows images though.

I don't know your TV but are you sure that it is an "LED" TV? If not, it may be an "LCD" TV which is a bit different. An "LED" TV uses Light Emitting Diodes to illuminate the individual pixels or PIcture ELementS. If it is an "LCD" TV, the picture works more like an electronic digital watch. The picture is produced within the screen and uses a florescent tube on the bottom and side to back light the screen. If you can see the picture with a flashlight, I suspect that it is an "LCD" type. If it was an "LED" TV, and it didn't light up, the LED's that make up the pixels wouldn't be firing and you wouldn't be seeing a picture even with a flashlight. Just like any florescent light tube, these "LCD" back light tubes will dim with age until they eventually fail. If the Toshiba logo lights and goes out, this sounds like the bulbs or their high voltage drivers are failing. Good luck.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main digital board./

46L5200U LED back light shuts down after about two minutes. You can see picture using a light source sound is also fine.

There should be some fault with its back-light inverter board. Either it do fail to work after some time, or it losses supply voltage after some time. You should check both these possibilities. If you wish to get more details, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic / Time slide, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name/model number/IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.
