RYOBI One+ Charge Center will not work

Charger would initially indicatePower On by showing Top red light. After inserting Lithium battery to be charged, red light went off & no other lights came on even blinking red light& green lights that would show defective battery. Now, no lights come on at all even one that previously showed Power on. I have opened up case & fuse in upper right corner tests OK for continuity with meter. Nothing inside appears to be damaged. Thoughts on what the problem could be?

SOURCE: Ryobi 18V lithium battery won't charge

Hi, Thanks for getting back to me. The yellow and blinking red indicate a defective cell. Since it has lithium cells and is that new any repair to it would be a waste of your time. Ryobi tools purchased in 2008 have a 2 year warranty. I am guessing you probably got it at a home depot and you should return it under the warranty. All new Ryobi tools have a three year warranty. Good Luck! and Thanks for using fixya!

SOURCE: ryobi lithium batteries won't take charge

For others with the same problem (flashing red light won't go off)...make sure you FIRMLY PUSH the battery down onto the charger and engage the latches. Simply resting the battery on the charger will not work.

Why is the green light blinking on the Ryobi charger with the battery in it

My Ryobi 18V One+ charger blinks green while it's charging. When the battery is fully charged, the LED goes to a solid green. However, one battery recently had a faulty cell. After several hours on the charger, the green and red LEDs both were blinking. That indicated that the battery failed late in the charging sequence. It didn't fail the initial testing by the charger. The other battery I charged that day charged fine.

The extended capacity batteries can take 12 hours to charge in my experience. The regular batteries take less time. The charge time will depend on the battery chemistry(The older NiCd batteries take longer to charge then the Lithium batteries.)

I hope this helps. Assuming you aren't dealing with a cold or hot battery or charging environment, if you have any suspicion about a faulty battery, replace it.

(Note: I have a 12V drill as well. Those batteries takes longer to charge for the same relative capacity than the 18V NiCd batteries.)

Are all the Lithium batteries working like this. Mine work for a short time then stop dead. Wait a while then they will work again. Really a pain when you are working trying to do somthing and have to run...

I use the Ryobi Li-Ion tools the L-I batteries will cut off when they get to a low charge level this is to protect the batteries Li-Ion batteries life span is shortened when fullt discharged so when the tool suddenly stops put the battery on charge, also if the battery has a charge indicator light for a more accurite idea of the charge (green is charged, red discharged) hold the test button on then run the tool the light may go from green to red if it does that shows the the charge is about depleted if the light stays green you have a little run time left.

What Ryobi batteries p103 or p104 will a battery charger that came with my p100 batteries charge? Or will the charger work with these batteries?

If you have a P100 NiCad battery, the charger for that will not charge the new Lithium Ion P103 or P104 batteries. You need a specialised Ryobi Lithium Ion battery charger like this one

Can you charge ryobi lithium batteries in a regular ryobi charger?

NO! Never charge lithium batteries in a charger designed for nickle based batteries like the NiHi your old charger was meant for. Ryobi did design the new Lithium charger to be backwards compatible so you can charge your older 18V NiHi batteries in the Lithium 18V charger.
Also note, NEVER miss-match the voltage, for example, make sure you are not trying to charge 12V batteries in an 18V charger unless the manufacturer has specifically stated that the charger is capable of multiple voltages.

I just bought a combo 18V Ryobi blower P2102 and trimmer P2002 which also came with a charger P113 and Ryobi lithium battery. I charged the 18V lithium P104 battery 48WH till light turned solid green on...

The battery will power your equipment for 30 to 45 minutes, that is normal. What you're thinking of is the lifespan of a lithium battery. It with your battery will last 10 times longer than a regular NiCad battery. So you will be able to charge the battery and use it Hundreds of times before the Battery Life is depleted. Sounds like it's working as designed

Ryobi p103 battery charged but dosen't work.

You need to have the charger tested, if you know that batteries are good then what else could it be. This LIon charger has a logic circuit in it like a computer.
