Why does my tower beep one time during shut down?

If it does not detect an optional sound card or the integrated sound in the motherboard, it will beep rather than play the "Windows shut down" music. This is a normal operation and nothing to fret.

Dell OptiPlex 780 with Windows 7 does not play my cd's or dvd's and is missing from device manager

Sounds like a problem of non-detection by the system. If the drive is missing from My Computer then it definitely is a non-detection issue. Try using this file (it's an exe when unzipped) and only required double-clicking.

Hello

That beep could mean alot of things, but probably a VIDEO CARD or RAM has become unseated.

If you feel comfortable with this, UNPLUG THE COMPUTER take off the case, remove and reinsert the ram chips, and the cards. You might need a screwdriver or two, and a LIGHT. The ram tabs are small.

Good Luck
