I have a friend in prison in oregon. He has a AMPD mp 3 player 4gb. It has a cracked screen. Does the company fix cracked a screen? Or does it cost more than it cost for a new one.

It is unfortunate that the screen cracked and that your particular model can be found on the internet for nearly what it would cost you to get it serviced if you could get it serviced in a timely manner. For instance there is a Memorex MVDP1078 Player for $114.00 at Overstock.com. A tv repair shop would charge you almost that amount if they can even get the part. If you send it in to memorex you will also be disappointed at how long and how much their out of warranty work costs. Since it is your friend, I would suggest you replace it and tell them what happened. As long as everyone is happy the question of getting a brand new one or getting it fixed should not be a problem. Take the unit back to Best Buy. I believe they will fix the screen as a "good faith" gesture.
