click start type cmd press enter you will be in DOS mode

type in ipconfig press enter

you will see all of your internet connection details

or type in your default gateway adress into your internet search should read something like 10.0.0.138 to get an inertnet connection

you must put the right IP adress for the machine: from the menu

1. choose system setting
2. Network settings
3. IP address setting
5. copy the the ip adress from your computer and type it in the special field

Verify that you are typing in the proper IP address. To do this you must:

1.Open a command prompt window

2. Type "ipconfig /all" without the quotes

3. You will see an IP Adress field. It should read 192.168.0.x or something sililar*

4. The address for the router will then be xxx.xxx.xxx.1 where x is the rest of the address you see in the field.

*note if your IP address reads "169.254.xxx.xxx", you have a connectivity issue of some sort. Check your cables/power.

Are you typing that IP address into your web browser? 192.168.1.1 is the default address that the WRT54G uses, so if that's not the right address, then it got changed somewhere along the lines. You can reset your router to set it back to its default settings, which would be 192.168.1.1.

Once you pull up the configuration software in your browser, you may need to log in with the username and password you chose -- otherwise the default username and password are "admin" and "admin".

o access the Access Points Setup, and the LAN IP address has not changed, then computer must have an IP address of 192.168.1.XXX. If the Access Point is plugged in via Ethernet to a Linksys Router and the computer is also connected a Linksys router via Ethernet, then the PC should already have a correct IP address (unless the LAN IP Address of the Router has been changed). If unsure, please assign the computer a Static IP Address so it will have an IP address in the same range as the Access Points IP Address.

If the Access Point is being connected to a hub/switch/router via Ethernet, then use the cable that was provided with Access Point. If the Access Point is being connected to the computer directly, then a Cross Over cable must be used. Cross over cables can be purchased at most electronic stores.

Remember: When ever a change is made in the Setup of the Access Point, the Apply button must be used to save the settings to the Access Point.

1. Open a web browser (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape)
2. When the browser opens, go to the "Address" bar and input the IP address of the Access Point.
   Default IP addresses:
   • WAP11 v2.8 - 192.168.1.251
   • WAP54G v1.1 - 192.168.1.245
3. A "User Name" and "Password" prompt will appear, leave the "User Name" field blank and input the Access Points password (The default password of a Linksys Access Point is admin) into the "Password" field.

type your ip adress into you web browser, this should take you to the configuration screen, there should be a tab that says security or something like that, select the type of security that you want, and it should assign you a wireless key automatically, hope this helps

The default IP address of most Routers is 192.168.0.1 and subnet 255.255.255.0
If you have setup the router earlier with you own network addresses that are different than the default you will have to start again from the beginning and push your routers reset button long enough so the router will reset to the default or factory settings. Then set your computer to automatically get its IP from the router via DHCP. If you have set the router to allow UPNP then you might be able to invoke or CALL the router by right clicking on your LAN connection in the Network connections page. This is if you are running windows. Mac or linux is different but the idea is the same. Hope this helps.

Can you ping the ip address? By default, the ip address should be 192.168.0.1. You can verify by going to Start, Run, cmd. At the command prompt type ipconfig /all and you will see the ip address, dhcp server, gateway, etc. The gateway will be the address for the router. Type ping 192.168.0.1 (if that is the address). Also, the default username is admin and the password is left blank.
