SOURCE: Nordic Track Treadmill will not run

If console lights up but doesnt respond when buttons are pressed, you more than likely have a console problem. Key pad issue would be my best guess.

I know it's been months, but, if you still have this problem try this: 1. remove the philips screws holding the motor/belt/electronics cover on: you can lay the whole thing on it's side and remove them from the bottom. there's two in the front and two on the sides.
2. Obviously, unplug the unit! before doing anything. lay the unit back on it's feet (normal position)
3. Find the incline motor assembly. it will be int he middle of everything. black tube thingy.
4. take a cordless drill with a flat head screw driver bit, and turn the incline motor CCW. until the bed is flat.
5. what what I have read, you should shop for a new incline sensor. these fail before the motor does.

SOURCE: I have a Nordic Track EXP 1000X treadmill and the

Probably 85% of the time, it's the sensor.

1. remove the screws from the bottom of the enclosure case. 2 or 3 in the front and 1 on each side

lay it back down, and power it up, and actuate your incline. watch the end of the motor, to see if the shaft is moving. It probably IS turning but only a little bit. NOT enough. In this case I'd say it is the sensor.

2. Unplug the unit of course.
3. the incline motor is in the middle of the pack,..you'll see a black tube looking thing sticking up.
4. on the bottom side of this, you will see,..or feel for a black square sensor attached to bottom of the motor casing.
5. follow the wires and unplug this.
6. pry it off with a screw driver. Remove incline assembly, if you cannot reach it.
7. replace sensor and try it again.

if the MOTOR does NOT turn when using the incline buttons, the problem backs up to possibly a bad control board. or a bad motor on your incliner, however, i'd say that's the last thing to go.

Order of failure: 1. sensor 2. control board 3. motor.

good luck

SOURCE: Nordic Track C2000 starts and then stops.

Have you lubricated the the running deck? The lack of lubrication can increase friction thus causing the current over load circuit to activate thus shutting down the unit to prevent further damage, Go to your local hard ware store and purchase silicone spray. Apply Lubricant by lift one side of the running belt spray contents length wise starting at motor shroud to the back end repeat this process on the other side. If this unit shut down again then you will have replace the running belt and possibly the deck

SOURCE: Nordic Track Ifit Treadmill has power but walking pad not working

If everything on the display console is working correctly then we know it is either a problem with the wires from the console to the controller or the controller itself. In most cases this means you need a new controller. To verify, take off the motor hood and find the green circuit board called the motor controller. With the power on go into manual mode and push the speed up button to a slow speed. If you see an LED light with "spd ctrl" next to it flickering but the belt still does not move then we know the problem is with the controller sending the signal to the walking belt, in which you should check the wires that go to the motor. If they are connected correctly then we know a new controller is in order. If you do not see a flickering light then it means the speed signal never got there and the problem will be with the wires going from the console to the controller. This is called an upright wire harness.

Not incline or declining

I expect there is a limiter switch that tells the treadmill when it has reached its maximum elevation. The switch is probably either malfunctioning or broke.

The treadmill is stuck on "incline." Any time we put the red key on it to turn it on, it just keeps moving up and down from 0 incline to 10. It does this over and over again without stopping. No...

I can't solve this, but my Nordic Track T5 zi occasionally does the same thing. The previous two times, I waited until the unit "bottomed out", and then pulled the mag switch (key) off. I unplugged the unit, then plugged it back in, attached the key, and all was well. This worked twice before, but today (3/8/2011)the unit's incline is cycling again, and the old fix isn't working. Maybe it will need to go back to Sears! Unit was purchased in October of 2010. Frustrating.

I have a Nordic Track EXP1000 that wad purchased

Go to iconservice.com click on manual input manufacturer and model name 1000.
Try this calibration procedure:
1) Press the Stop and the Speed Up keys down while inserting the safety key. If this doesn’t work, click on the help topic entitled “Alternate Calibration Codes” for key sequence instructions to enter calibration.
2) Press the Stop key one time. The Time window should read EP:2P. Some newer models may also say FP, Pass, or the like. This means that it passes the EPROM test.
3) Press either incline key and the incline will calibrate automatically.
4) BE CAREFUL, THE TREADMILL WILL RUN AT FULL SPEED IN THIS NEXT MODE! DO NOT STAND ON THE WALKING BELT. Press the Speed Up key and hold it down until 85 is shown in the Distance window (some models may show the 85 number in another window).
5) If the top speed of the treadmill does not match the displayed speed on the computer console, adjust the max speed potentiometer (pot) on the motor control board. This is the board that the red and black motor wires connect directly into in the motor area. The Max Speed pot is clearly labeled.
6) The max speed potentiometer is a small square with a mobile center and is located in one corner of the board and is labeled MAX SPD. It is near the harness that carries the speed signal labeled H,W,L. Using a small insulated screwdriver adjust this potentiometer clockwise to speed up and counter-clockwise to slow down the max speed of the treadmill. A tiny turn of this potentiometer will make a big difference in speed so be careful when making adjustments.
7) It is not important to get the speed set exactly at the max speed of the treadmill but do make sure to get the speed within .2 MPH of the max speed of the treadmill. For instance if the max speed of the treadmill is 10 MPH, make sure to have the speed set between 9.8 MPH and 10.2 MPH. Some models have a 12 MPH top speed, so please check your manual if you aren’t sure.
8) THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP BECAUSE YOU WILL GET AN ERROR MESSAGE IF THIS STEP IS SKIPPED.After completing calibration of the speed, press the Speed Down key. The treadmill will automatically return to 0 MPH. Please allow the unit to stop completely before continuing.
9) THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP BECAUSE YOU WILL GET AN ERROR MESSAGE IF THIS STEP IS SKIPPED.Press the Stop key once and remove the safety key.

My treadmill is stuck in the max incline position

If the incline moves but only just a bit, it could be a problem as simple as the gearbox on the motor being jammed. We remove the motor from the treadmill, reconnect the wiring, and then try to run the incline motor outside the treadmill. Many times, this will unjam it if that is the problem and then reinstalling it in the treadmill will get it to work. If you have the same problem or it doesn’t run outside the machine and you can hear it try to work, you need to replace the incline motor.

Nordictrack apex4100i level incline will not work

Try this calibration procedure.
Turn the power switch on. Remove the safety key. Hold the Stop and Speed Up or Speed Plus buttons down then insert the safety key.
The display should show some numbers.
Press the stop key one time and the display should show some other numbers and some 00's. Press the Incline Up button and see if the Incline begins to move, if it does let it go all the way up and then all the way down, wait a few seconds after it stops, then hit the stop key 4 times. It should be calibrated. If it didn't move then the board or the incline motor is bad.
